PXAV-V3 'Bulldog' (6WD Jeep Replacement)

Post by dilanski » Wed Jun 29, 2011 4:09 pm

In Chapter 2 of the Xenkan Incursion I realised just how vulnerable the 6WD Jeep could be when it came close to being destroyed by myself. Even then it was ideal conditions, with a large space, but no matter what it will always have to close in on the enemy, making the open topped vehicle's crew vulnerable to Flamethrowers, Explosives, Elevated shooting and CC, Basically a whole lot could render the vehicle useless, A replacement was needed fast. Unfortunately I had builder block.

Then on Sunday Top Gear was on, and holy Christ that's freaking awesome, It's like a MBT and a Hummer had a threesome with a bunker.

I had to build something like it, only with more tank DNA.

Christened the Praetorian eXperimental Assault Vehicle-Version 3, and more commonly known as the Bulldog. It is equipped with a Twin Linked Mk-4 gun, 4 Mk-3 rockets and a Mk-2 Minigun, this vehicle has the firepower of a medium tank, It has room for 2 crew and up to 3 passengers, although a down-gunned version could potentially carry a 5 man squad although this was never meant as a APC. The vehicle has a think armoured hull with a Cosmonite alloy, the underside is protected against mines and IED's, giving the bulldog impressive survivability rates only being brought down by Tank-Killing weapons. Overall this is an over-sized over-gunned over-armored over-hyphened...car...

Nice. It reminds me of a death limo, for some reason.

Reminds me of a 1970's ambulance, if 1970's ambulances were killing machines.

Can sort of see the resemblance. It does also look a bit limo-like with it's length.

also some backstory.

Code: Select all

With the Xenkan's pulling out of praetorian space to study their two computer core's, the praetorian empire needed to equip it's forces with a vehicle that had speed, armor and firepower, but early designs proved unsuccessful. The praetorian empire decided it was time to capitalize on the alliance with the dominion known for it's weapons manufacturing.

"Your call Is now being routed through to the nearest Dial'O'Death station Remember your call may be recorded for training purposes"

"Fucking Answer Machines"

"Hello! this is John at D'O'D How can we be of service?"

"Hi this is Dilanski from the Praetorian Empire, I'm hoping we can receive assistance on weapon design matters"

"Why sure, we can send an initial consultant out to analyze the best way we can help you, for a fee of course"

"Pardon?..."

"Then It's just a matter of figuring out the cost of our service and then we can have technicians out, for a good per-day fee, then It's just parts and expenses"

"John, You do realize the Praetorian Empire is allied with the Immortals?"

"Yes and you will of course get a 15% discount because of your wise choice"

"At the moment we have half a million Terrokhan's garrisoned as part of the Immortals reserve force, all of them on Praetorian planets in praetorian built barrack's, the Immortal 4th reserve fleet is currently parked outside my window because all the other starports are taken up by the 7th, 11th and 12th fleets, all of which are being serviced by praetorian engineers, IF I WAS TO SEND YOU THE BILL FOR OUR SERVICES YOU'D BE ON MY DOOR RIGHT NOW BEGGING I DON'T CHARGE INTEREST! DON'T YOU TELL ME YOU WON'T SHIP SOME ENGINEERS AND TECHNICIANS OUT TO YOUR ALLIES BECAUSE YOU WAN'T A FRIGGING BONUS!"

"Oh that Empire... I'm ever so sorry sir, I'll Have our people ut to you in the next 2-3 working days"

"You better"

"Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for choosing Dial'O'Death for your weapon needs"

"Go swivel on your shitty customer service"

Soon Immortal Designers were working along-side Praetorian ones and the design took shape nicely, weapon systems were upgraded with some new Immortal technology, including anti-grav ammunition and Pedonuker seeking ammunition. The PXAV-V3 was unveiled with a test of the 4WD over some captured peaches.

Nice, I like the bit of dialog in the post, fluff is always good and intertaining, speaking of which I need to get off my lazy ass and actualy post some... the for reminding me.
@ posts above me about the ambulance:
When I first saw it I thought limo, then ambulance. Then I noticed the minigin and thought assault ambulance. But then I finally noticed the main gun and all the rockets on it. Can it fire all its weapons in one turn?

Unfortunately It can only fire two, due to it having only two crew, and even then I'd have a low chance of hitting.

Wow! - serious cool bananas :o

That is one very nice looking armoured car. And yes it does look like one of those old ambulances, but I bet it doesn't have to sound a siren to get through traffic
