In other news, I've built an open truck for the train. It's load will consist of explosive rounds for the artillery, booze, explosives, and guns.
Also the flat bed has been given artillery and anti-infantry/light-armor guns.
The locomotive has been reworked around the firebox and cab, i much prefer the new build. It's also got a proper buffer beam at the front.
sadly i only have 1 axle left so until i find more that's it.

I suggest making it look more like a regular train than an armoured one, all of the given examples look boring as hell. Or if you go for the armoured look, don't follow those examples.

You need a fuel car. Why? It fuels the train, and creates a massive explosion if shot. It's a win-win situation. Alternatively, the train could be coal-powered, and you could have a secret massive gun pop out from under the coal.

Also, throw some cargo cars on it, as well as a crane to lift the crates. I'm aware this is a train meant for war, but you could just say they're supply crates. This also gives you an excuse to mount a massive crane arm on it.

the locomotive is coal fired, and it's not possible for a gun to pop out as i modeled the tender not the coal (so it's a trough down to a hatch on the foot plate, water would be under and behind the trough)
I personally dislike armored trains and my build is more based on what a war train could of looked like in the Victorian era, light armour. so far it's a normal train. just in grey (would change the loco to black if i had the parts).

well work has gone on dispite me not updating the thread. the loco is receiving gradual work and once i find more black slopes it will be recoloured.
the train now consists of;
4 wheel 3 plank open. (plank is a measure of the height of the side)
4 wheel well-flat. (or "fish-belly" flat car)
4 wheel pill box brake van.(caboose)

all unfitted as fuck modeling vacuum tubes.

lamps can be placed in the four RCH positions at the head of the locomotive, the brake van can also be fitted with a lamp at either end. currently set as Class F.

The military train at the start (perhaps a little later) of Laputa: castle in the sky are quite good examples (I love that film). If anything make the current train taller a bit?

still not 100% happy with the locomotive or the open. looking for ways to make the open's sides thinner.

let's start with the locomotive, set up with lights for "general unfitted freight" though one of the gas lamps hasn't been lit...

not happy with the smoke box and firebox, the chassis is also in need of work.

Ok a bit more interesting; the well flat!

Not sure if this will help but a guy made this sick armored train, might be able to get some ideas form it.
