The Armies of Nature and friends.

Post by NapalmKing » Tue Oct 11, 2011 10:31 am

Ok so these are some guys I made to be a faction for my druid.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234122361/" title="brikwars mk2 005 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6059/623 ... b78d73.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 005"></a>
On the outskirts of an ancient forest
two elves stand guard as their master communes with nature.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234663476/" title="brikwars mk2 006 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6095/623 ... 5a5f05.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 006"></a>
The ground suddenly begins to shake and the trees twist and turn until 2 distinct forms become visible,
these ents are guardians of the forest the one on the left is the one I posted in the Druids? thread the one on the right is new.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234135223/" title="brikwars mk2 007 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6109/623 ... 1db267.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 007"></a>
The 5 units, I tried to make the druid more herolike gave him a hood and some tribal facepaint and got him some capes,
the elves have bows and swords the works.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234132445/" title="brikwars mk2 008 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6119/623 ... 70a717.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 008"></a>
Later at a nearby outpost the druid appears.
"I am looking for captain ravenstorm I have buisness to discuss with him"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234130825/" title="brikwars mk2 010 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6109/623 ... 0258e3.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 010"></a>
"What do you want druid we haven't seen you since last harvest"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234135967/" title="brikwars mk2 011 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6218/623 ... 63633b.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 011"></a>
"I have been traveling and I have disturbing news multiple groups of soldiers are moving this way
to join the great wars going on in the west and they will be here soon"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234653350/" title="brikwars mk2 012 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6232/623 ... 3d30b4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 012"></a>
"I'm sorry druid but we cannot go to war with you we have just planted our crops
and they will be long dead if we go west with you"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234131663/" title="brikwars mk2 013 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6111/623 ... d1f0a9.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 013"></a>
"I do not wish to go west Captain but these people have no crops of their own and will fight whoever they have to to get supplies, as for your crops I can help with that"
the druid's staff begins to glow as he casts a spell

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234141197/" title="brikwars mk2 014 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6229/623 ... 5dab7e.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 014"></a>
suddenly the crops burst out of the ground fully grown and larger than the soldiers had ever seen.
"very well druid we will help you fight these outsiders just let us harvest this and we will be on our way"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234650276/" title="brikwars mk2 016 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6216/623 ... 6d3d70.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 016"></a>
These are the soldiers they are remnants of an empire that once invaded the area but then colapsed leaving men stranded,
these are the decendants of those soldiers.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234654390/" title="brikwars mk2 018 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6109/623 ... bc4e63.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 018"></a>
This is their captain Alexandros Raventorm

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234652272/" title="brikwars mk2 017 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/623 ... 0c88fe.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 017"></a>
These are the base infantry they carry axes and small bucklers.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234652272/" title="brikwars mk2 017 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/623 ... 0c88fe.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 017"></a>
These men are the town guard while most soldiers are just farmers these men are constantly on watch and use their pikes to hold off attackers while the farmers grab their weapons.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58656896@N06/6234134337/" title="brikwars mk2 020 by Ajax the greater, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6156/623 ... b17db2.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="brikwars mk2 020"></a>
The archers pretty basic just hunters that are willing to shoot people when threatened.

Another ent; well done... I like this one as well!

Glad you went with the white horse =)

Druid hero turned out great; the hood and cape really set him apart from the mooks. The war paint is actually a nice touch; turned out alright.

The bucklers... meh... I like the idea but they are kinda blocksy with all the studs sticking out. Dwarfs come with bucklers; might appropriate some from them. Something that might set off those bucklers you do have... put a colored, round, stud in the middle. Or maybe put different color, round, studs on all 4 studs of the buckler.... kinda like their family colors or tribe colors? Just some ideas... try some things, see if you like it, if not oh well.

Thanks for sharing your creations and taking the time to write up the story!

The thing is that I don't have enough dwarf sheilds to do that also the dwarf sheilds have symbols on them I want these sheilds to be plain.

The ents are obviously badass. The soldiers are nice too, but as morganm said their shields are kind of weird. Small or medium-small dishes could give a plainer look.

medium dishes with a stud for the minifig to hold on to can look really nice with multiple troops, but for bucklers I'd suggest the small dishes.

And if you add a "tap" piece, you'll have a nice little handle for the buckler as well.

To reiterate, though, the Ents are quite nice. The druid's weapon is also quite unique.

I prefer a T pin because it fits into the dish more tightly. The Tap sticks out very far... so when you have your minifig holding the buckler out in front of him it looks like it's 5 feet away from his body.

Same principle though; it facilitates more dynamic posing than if you were to just shove their hand into the female end of the stud on the inside of the dish.

Ah, yes, that's a better suggestion. I always forget about t-pins because I only recently acquired a few...

I was trying to find the official name of them but couldn't find it in Bricklink. Couldn't remember what sets they came in either.

Handy little bits they are!

Yep. They're not too annoying to look at either, as they only stick out a bit from the medium disks.
