WH40k veteran, any tips on starting a new army?
Well, I spent 2 years on Warhammer, and I spent 790+ moolah on a Necron army. Then I found my way here. I thought about it for a while, then I decided to switch to Brikwars. I got shit-tons of Lego, and I'm thinking about making a Lego version army of Necrons. Any tips?

Tips? Yup.
6. Read the forum code; someone'll eventually show up who has it in their signature.
7. Color scheme/theme. These usually help; if you are basing your plans on necrons, then this probably won't be too difficult. Plus, there are skull heads aplenty and some nifty designs in the recent ninjago line that might be worth a look.
8. Lots of beamsaber bars. Green ones. That should handle the vast majority of your "necron" type weapons.
9. The pharaoh's quest line has kick-ass scarabs that you could mount some machine-gun or lazer weaponry on.
10. Pictures. We love pictures. In fact, Lady Natalya might reprimand you for not having pictures in this thread. In your newness, I'll readily forgive you; but I figure I'll warn you anyway.
Good luck, dude.

Get lots of black skeletons and some body armor. Then, as Rev. Sylvanus said, make some guns using the trans-neon green lightsaber bars. You can buy all of these pretty cheaply on bricklink.
If you want to make something like a monolith, though, I would recommend a LOT of black slopes and some trans-neon green crystals.

Alternately, the old Exo-force line had several silver robots. They don't look exactly like Necrons, but they look more like them than a white minifig skeleton.

Since you did play WH40K, You probably know the advantages of a color scheme:
6. you can easily pick out your troops in the middle of a battle
7. You don't get laughed at
8. Makes your army look badass.
So, treat Brikwars like Warhammer in this case: Build in a color scheme or GTFO.

No pics in OP but this is your first post here so I will forgive you. Umm I would suggest getting a ton of the old Ice Planet chainsaw holder things, but in black. I don't know their exact name but it is an old space part. Those plus the old space ray guns and green beamsaber tubes should make some nasty looking Neuron weapons.
Note: Here we try to avoid using copyrighted names and stuff so calling your guys the Neurons or something might be a better plan. For example, Dreadnaught-->Dreadnought or Dreadnut. Light Saber-->Beamsaber or Laser Sword.

Don't they have Beamsabers in all the "Gundam" series?Natalya wrote:Light Saber-->Beamsaber or Laser Sword.

Yes, but no one cares.mgb519 wrote:Don't they have Beamsabers in all the "Gundam" series?
But keep a good color scheme and a unified-looking force. It looks a lot nicer than a hodgepog, normally.

Just sort your minifig parts and accessories and try to build matching groups of units with them that look cool. From the colour scheme that appears, build some vehicles that work with them.

Brikwars itself sits on the very edge of lots of copyright infringement, so we tend to be careful with what we name stuff. Also, if you're looking to build a Dreadnut, here's my dread types for inspiration:

Really? I thought we just did it for fun, except in official stuff like the manual where it kinda matters. You'd have to be a maniac to sue someone over the internet for using the word 'lightsabre' in a forum post. If you're serious, you couldn't even build something that resembles a dreadnought too much.

I think I want to build a Calvarian Dreadnut now...
Re: WH40k veteran, any tips on starting a new army?
If you want to spend the money/have the parts, pimping out black skeletons would look really cool and the most like Necrons in my opinion:

Pretty much all I have to say is skeleton pieces. I made a mech the other day that I have yet to post that looks kind of Necron-ish, but it's white. Used tons of white skele pieces and

You haven't shown any symptoms yet, but I'm here to nip them in the bud nonetheless.
First thing you need to know about this game:
