Re: Army of the Brickville Union
the ifv is the one thing i like most. brick viller, if you don't mind me asking, would you mind me basing a future ifv off of that design? yours reminds me so much of the soviet bmp2. something i like a lot.
the empire is hidden, but it is not hiding. it is waiting. and like a sleeping giant will wake with consequences as of yet unseen in the brikverse. unimaginable destruction will ensue leaving ruins in its trail.

Unfortunately Mechanical Feces-thrower, I do not have an significant other.Robot Monkey wrote:Quick question, Whiteagle, does your boyfriend call in artillery strikes with you?
Tanks or GTFO.
If I did, we'd probably picnic on one of the still smoldering husk of your useless METAL BAWKSES after a long night of GROUND POUNDING!

You see, everyone and their mother wants to kill the SUPERDEATHTANK as soon as possible, stupidly ignoring the guys on the motorcycle about to commit statutory DAKKARAEP from behind with their machinegun.

See? What I'm saying is all these tanks have big guns, meaning they'll do a lot of damage, but will have a high UR and thus a very hard time hitting anything when they get negative mods, like fast moving not overly large targets.Ham701 wrote:My buggy is a veteran of 4 major brikwars. Splash damage and heavy armor means that you can aim shots so close to friendly tanks that they're caught in the splash damage, but still far enough away to only take a single d10 of damage and shrug it off with all but the crappiest rolls. Plus there's lots of small guns on these things too.
I'd actually say that the biggest weakness this army has is it's own concentrated and overwhelming firepower. A small team of ninjas or determined minifigs could make their way onto the blind spots in the defenses, hijack one of the tanks, and wreak heavy destruction before the other tanks can eliminate it, and even that would be a mortal blow in the defense network.

Plastik Armory: a bunch of weapons and abilities compatible with the 2010 rules.

That sounds like a horrible plan. Nearmiss: a crappy roll and you'd be dealing full hits to each other. Why do you think real-life armies not only limit themselves to tanks anyway. Tanks are good at a lot of things and these certainly are, but they're not an answer to every threat.

I agree with Robot Monkey in the idea of a full armored Blitzkrieg tactic, as I myself prefer large numbers of tanks and armored units with the superior firepower they can provide. However, I can also see the efficiency in having a fast-moving force as well. In truth, they work best in unison. The fast-moving units can maneuver to where they can potentially surround the enemy, and herd them into a large group, where the tanks and such with the big guns can annihilate them in a single powerful volley of fire.
Re: Army of the Brickville Union
Indeed, relying solely on armor to protect your units from any threat is a foolish idea.Bragallot wrote:See? Plus the great thing about small, fast units is they are both cheap AND expendable.
For the price of a single Org,e you can probably afford to field half a dozen machine-gun bikes.
Well every army does have its weaknesses.IVhorseman wrote:I'd actually say that the biggest weakness this army has is it's own concentrated and overwhelming firepower. I myself would want to use some kind of giant rail launcher to land a Jetpacked Commando on the Artillery, then hijack it and go to town on them with their own biggest gun.
Exactly, though having never experienced a wargame in person, I don't know how effective 'herding' would be.Ben-Jammin wrote:I agree with Robot Monkey in the idea of a full armored Blitzkrieg tactic, as I myself prefer large numbers of tanks and armored units with the superior firepower they can provide. Ideally fast attack units would go for the flanks and thin out the infantry, splitting the enemies focus.
This alllows the slower moving armor to advance and take out high priority targets before they can regroup.

No problem, but you inadvertently caused a tactics discussion from the sheer wall of force you presented. That's how it tends to go down.Brickviller wrote:LOL I watched this forum yesterday and got 4 replies. Now this morning 31 repliesThank you guys for the nice comments and advice

You gotta be shitting me . . .
THIS IS GLORIOUS!
You know what this army needs? Not moar tanks, not moar jetbikes - this needs the unholy triple love-child of an Apache Gunship, a HIN-D and the HATREDCOPTER - and then Soviet that shit.
And then stick a fucking railgun on it - nope, fuck that - build the HATREDCOPTER around a railgun, and then do that shit I just said.

Precisely. The Best forces make use of armoured tanks, aircraft, mobile infrantry(Skis, Motorbikes, Jetpackers) and light vehicles as one. It is not wise to have your entire army based around one type of unit.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway

While I could understand maybe using a HIN-D style chopper in place of yet another tank, this army's HATREDCOPTER is the Gertrüde-B SHSPA.
It might not be as heavily armed, I'm pretty sure that things main gun has a range measured in feet!
On the tabletop, that's pretty insane when most small arms are sniping at less then a foot.
The Gertrüde-B is like the supersized Brikwars version of the Basilisk.

Fuckin' beautiful army. Good diversity although some air assets would fit perfectly, excellent quality builds, well themed. This is the kind of army most people dream of having. IMO this theme lacks some good old Brikwars ridiculousness but nevertheless, awesome. Good work man!

Re: Army of the Brickville Union
What happened to the Zeus Mk.II fighter? I really liked that thing.
Given that this army's theme seems to be "overwhelming firepower" I think the next step would be some sort of giant-ass bomber to carpet the enemy's strong points with explosives and napalm. A HIND would be cool too, but then, HINDs go with everything.

Re: Army of the Brickville Union
Ooo, I like the idea of a giant artillery strike in the middle of a battle. Even hitting the tanks, but they just pull through because they're gigantic. Even if you don't make a bomber plane, you should have some sort of carpet bombing ability for your army.
