Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
Nice! Much better use for that old set than letting it sit and collect dust.

Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
I too have a lot of those droids now missing arms. There's a lot of options though since many things clip on or slide on to where the arms go. I usually just build weapon systems that clip or slide right onto the shoulder there. Also not afraid to just throw on arms that are different colors ... they are veteran droids with field repairs =)
The modular vehicle there is a good start. The rear end seems unfinished. Just need something to tie it all together or finish it off. How about some other modular systems that would be used on the base chassis?

Indeed, I mean, it already matches the other set!Robot Monkey wrote:Nice! Much better use for that old set than letting it sit and collect dust.
Well that's why I came up with my "Special Droids", like the Flail Droid:morganm wrote:I too have a lot of those droids now missing arms. But yeah, are the more recent droids at least made out of better plastic?
The ones that came in this set broke almost immediately, but the "Space Skeleton" arms I recently got in black plastic seem solid enough.
In any event, I'm going to order a LOT of spare arms.
Well this turret was build with as many of the pieces from the old slide out Droid Rack as possible, so I kept the bottom pretty much the same.morganm wrote:The modular vehicle there is a good start. Also, the gimmick of this set was how the Rack could be slide out entirety, so I figured the vehicle would be perfect for picking up and moving around otherwise stationary weapons platforms!
So yeah, I was fully intending to make other weapons moduals that slid in and out of the back end.

That Flail Droid is crazy and I love it.
Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
Well yeah, when your Army is cripplingly specialised in Range Combat and your Glorious Astromech Hero can't repair you, guess what?Zahru II wrote:That Flail Droid is crazy and I love it.
You get turned into a Human-Weed Wacker!
Anyways, new Turret Module:

16 Rockets and a small Anti-Personal Blaster for those pesky targets you don't want to waste explosive on.

That there is just plain epic! I love the actual functionality it has.

Well I figured that if I'm going to have rockets, I might as well have ones I could play with.Robot Monkey wrote:![]()

And if I was going to have rockets I could play with, I WANTED A BUTT LOAD OF THEM!!!
While the flick-fire gimmick is good, I think this module will be even more functional on the battlefield.
Remember that the idea for this vehicle is that it can pick up and drop these turrets, and most of the rockets have a clear firing line even when pointed foward.
So I imagine this equipment will be rushed to the front line first while it fires from the back of the transport, then be dropped off there while something else gets moved up.
I've got a base set up for another turret module, so any ideas as to what I should put on it?

Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
I'm gonna have to mod my old battle droid carrier now to make it like that.
Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
Why carry droids when you can carry rockets?
An army marches on its stomach, and its favorite food is fudge.

Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
Maybe add a droid launcher? (That's right, a cannon that launches droids at the enemy.)

Re: Star Wars Vehicle Creations
Remember Ben that the rocket turret is on a platform that can slide out the back, because that's probably the most useful feature.Ben-Jammin wrote:I'm gonna have to mod my old battle droid carrier now to make it like that.
Damn it RM, GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!Robot Monkey wrote:Maybe add a droid launcher? (That's right, a cannon that launches droids at the enemy.)
I'd been pondering some type of rail-gun using the sliding rail brick things, but had been dismissing it due to it just being an explosive launcher...
...Then I remembered my plans to take out Brickville's Super Heavy Artillery platform!
The only issue is trying to figure out how to fit a large rail-gun on a relatively small base and how to deal with the rail sled.
I'm thinking for the launcher itself, it would be fixed structure with a fold out rail extension, but it probably have to be limited to around 24 studs long for it to believably fit on the back.
There is also the rail sled, should I make each explosive a rail projectile itself and then build each Rocket Droid Commando (The troops I would prefer launching) their own sabot sled, make an open catapult shuttle that any projectile can be set in that never leaves the track and stops at the end of the gun, or some combination of the two ideas?

And load their skinny forms up with as much explosives as they can carry, just like the Indians in the PARV battle.Maybe add a droid launcher? (That's right, a cannon that launches droids at the enemy.)

Didn't they have chainsaw bee things in the 3rd movie? Launch barrels of those!Ben-Jammin wrote:And load their skinny forms up with as much explosives as they can carry, just like the Indians in the PARV battle.Maybe add a droid launcher? (That's right, a cannon that launches droids at the enemy.)

Yeah, buzz droids. But I think explosions do a lot more than simply cutting into a ship and chopping up its internals.
