Savage class VT

Image
This is the Savage VT an AN medium sized mech fitted for antivehicle and infantry work.
Image
The Savage is heavily armed for a mech its size.
Image
The savage is equipped with a pair of heavy gauss cannons which while having enough punch to pass right through tanks, have a rather slow firerate.
Image
Its also equipped with a pair of chest-mounted anti infantry infinite-repeaters for use by the VT while the cannons cool down and reload.
Image
As you can see its rather flexible although mecha yoga is out of the question.
Image
the torso can twist and turn to track infantry via a balljoint that connects the pelvis with the torso.
Image
Heres how the legsand arms are built up and attached to the body.
Image
woah calm down there mister VT!

So thats it folks!
sorry for the hurrible pictures, my camera has a thing for blurring and washing out colour unless the photos are taken outside with sunlight no matter how many lights I turn on.
And well its january so either its too wet outside to photograph or the sun is hiding behind the clouds.

That is a pretty bad-ass build you have there.

Nice work. I love the guns on this, but feel like there is always room for moar dakka. Shoulder mounted missile launchers perhaps?

This is what you're supposed to do with ball joints. Wonderful addition, this looks great!

All you need is one ball joint when making a mech and that's only if you want to. But getting back to my praise of your destructive creativity; I love the simple design concept behind this unit and I must say that while missiles are fun I don't think that they are as affective as they should be but that's just my opinion, I could be dead wrong.

Because they're awkward and too many points of loose articulation tend to make a creation slump over into a pile more often than not. *shrugs*

People hate ball joints because they attempt to build mechs entirely out of them, or attach the technic bits in really ugly ways.

If you're not a total n00b, they're actually fun and effective in the right places, ESPECIALLY when complemented with other bricks.

I could see ball joints working well for things like hips and point-defense guns.

I don't know fredde, I like the poseability, but you've done better work. It feels rushed and incomplete. Look at the feet for example, you didn't even cover the studs on the ends of the plates. And the leg hinge design, it looks like it works but I don't know. I know you can design something better than this. Try to put in more time experimenting with leg and arm designs and really create something unique and cool. This looks like its appendages would snap off if someone picked it up.
