Frangerian Starships

Post by Battlegrinder » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:15 pm

I've completed the first few ships in the Frangerian fleet, specifically a battlecruiser/heavy frigate and some lighter patrol ships. I'll keep working on the rest of the fleet as I get more familiar with LDD, but so far I'm liking the initial results.

Little snubnoses are cute. They remind me of Star Trek shuttles.

Agreed, but clearly Battlegrinder and I have to battle for the right to use the brown and tan color scheme...

I'm still experimenting with various color schemes. I'm thinking you might get to keep brown and tan, because I keep having issues with parts not being available in color I want with that scheme.

Wife Bagel means nothing. There are plenty of people who use mandalorian torsos or blue colour schemes, and none of us pretend to own the uniform or the colours.

Also in extended mode there is no colour restriction.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway

He's welcome to keep using brown and tan, I wasn't that attached to the scheme anyway, and I'm liking the new tan and black pattern more.

I've also just finished building my comically-overarmed dreadnaught, and will get pictures posted once photobucket is back up.

FPN Donner
Image
The Donner is a one of a kind warship, currently serving as the HQ for the Frangerian task force fighting along the Assyrian front. The ship was designed to counter the ASE’s larger and better equipped naval flotillas, substituting raw force for sophisticated technology and finesse.

The Donner’s primary armament is the fearsome Rotary Phase Cannon, a four barreled spinal gun based on the main cannons mounted on ASE destroyers and frigates (though the RPC is far more powerful, as its tied to stronger generators and has been enhanced by several Immortal Alliance technologies), and is powerful enough to rip through all but the strongest foes in only a few bursts.
The Donner also mounts a half dozen Hardlight Plasma Launchers, a variant of Immortal plasma casters (the science of which remains beyond Frangerian engineering). The HPL works by surrounding a dense cloud of plasma with a hardlight sheath, creating a projectile that is slower than c, but inflicts a significant amount of kinetic damage in addition to the normal melting and burning.
The Donner also carries an array of standard laser cannons, as well as a fearsome payload of torpedoes. Additionally, it has a number of internal hangers, allowing it deploy up to six fighter escorts. While there are some power issues that can prevent the RPC and HPLs from being fired at the same time, the Donner still mounts enough weaponry to obliterate whole flotillas single-handedly.
