Roll vitality first. THEN roll reconnaissance. You have to make it through your shift before you can do things on it.

Re: Starfringe RPG
Well, ok, there are six names on the roster on page 1. Each shift is 3 hours, and the night is 17 hours, which means each of us can cover a single shift and cover the whole night with 18 hours. I'm a hardy character, so I'll take a middle shift.
Vitality roll for 4th Shift: 19 (above 16-2=14), Success with Bonus.
Recon roll for 4th Shift: 10 (above 8-2=6 but not above 12-2=10), Partial Success.
I have to admit, I'm not terribly keen on the subtractive system. It's counterintuitive. What's more, I'm not sure what's going on with the Partial Success/Failure line. It says 8 or below is a failure but (8-proficiency) is a partial success. So what if I had rolled a 7 on one of those? Being that I have a Prof of 2 in each, either works as an example. 7 would be above 8-2, so would be a partial. Simultaneously, 7 is below an 8 and so would be a failure.

Sorry, this issue was already raised. Just add your proficiency to the roll. Same thing, more intuitive.

Re: Starfringe RPG
whatever your vitality is currently. And since it has not been reduced, 1. And don't forget to roll reconnaissance too.

Re: Starfringe RPG
Wait, I thought you handled all the dice rolls, also yea, roll for recon
Re: Starfringe RPG
Rolled Vitality: 14+1=15
Rolled Recon: 18+0=18
(Holy crap)
Dr. Dundati barely makes it through the first half of his shift, his eyes drooping every few seconds. It seems he is not cut out for this, and eventually exhaustion overcomes him.
Later, a scheduled wakeup signal gets X-707 out of sleep mode, and he immediately finds his batteries are more than sufficiently charged. He begins scanning the horizon, and notices several things. First, that there are what appear to be tracks in the dirt that everyone else has overlooked. There are two large tire tracks about 4 meters apart from each other.
Second, that the tracks seem to be circling across the landscape haphazardly, and that it seems to have recently passed within 2 kilometers of the camp.
Third, that there seems to be a shift in the tracks because of that.
X-707 wakes everyone immediately. It is likely you will not have much time to set up for these visitors.

Move quickly to the big gun, if I can.
If not, pull my own handcannon and wait.

"Quick, grab anything you can and get into the RAV and let's get moving. We stand a better chance in that thing than in the open."
I grab my equipment quickly and head inside.

Re: Starfringe RPG
Grab stuff and get in the RAV, and don't open fire when you see them we still have a cease fire that we can prolong.

"But, of course. Hopefully, our big gun will be used just for intimidation, oui?"
Thumbs up, big grin.
Be prepared to shoot the shit out of anything that looks too aggressive.

Re: Starfringe RPG
Grab weapon, move to a good firing position says, "my processors indicate it is very likely we are about to be attacked"
Re: Starfringe RPG
You hop into the RAV and start scanning. you pick up a signal about four kilometers away; apparently the vehicle moved around you, to the east. If you go after it, you could easily catch it at the rate of speed you're going.

"It looks like they stumbled upon us and went around. They're adhering to the cease fire...else they would've killed us in our sleep, oui? I say it's not our problem and get back to doing what we were."
