Give me like a few minutes, and I'll forward you design plans.Colette wrote:If B'lack Obama weren't too busy getting sued by his own Congress and drowning in illegal space-Latino orphans, the United Systems Alliance would probably declare war on the Frangerian Protectorate for its outsize insolence.
The mandate is clear.
The USA needs to roll out the space Gerald Ford-class megacarrier.
I'm thinking we'll aim for the X0,000 fighter mark this time round, also, screw creating an inferior design through muddying the aims of the hull and design principles, we're sticking a full empires worth of Teranukes on it, and launch bays for a full mech squadron.
My penis is already nearing maximum erectness.

Re: Frangerian Navy
As a lack of inspiration has meant the Dreadnought design is still on hold, I decided to rework the fleet yet again while I wait (this will hopefully be the definitive rebuild), since I'd noticed a minor flaw in the design while rebuilding some of Scythe's ships. Specifically, the fact the engine design I've been using on the fleet so far kinda sucks. So after a little thought, I came up with a new design scheme that works much better. So far, I've rebuilt everything but the carrier and battleship.

The core idea behind the new design is to move the engines away from the ships center line and onto these struts. With the new placement, the engines are farther away from the ship's center of mass, meaning they generate more torque during maneuvers. A Frangerian ship with this engine configuration is far more maneuverable than a ship of similar size that uses center line engines, and given that Frangerian ships have far more mass than most ships, the extra maneuverability really helps (I'd imagine that scouts and frigates could probably turn on a dime with the new system).

Plus, since you used ball joints on some of them, they can ARTICULATE their engines for even MORE Maneuverability!Battlegrinder wrote:The core idea behind the new design is to move the engines away from the ships center line and onto these struts. Now that is cool, it's like star trek fucked the US navy.

The engine pods work well in most cases - especially on that frigate, but I'm not sure I like them on the scoutship.

I was thinking more like SW, given that ST military makes the Starship Troopers military look good (the parody one from the movies, not the book).loafofcheese wrote:Now that is cool, it's like star trek fucked the US navy.
I'll keep the scoutship the way it is. Also, I swear I didn't plan this, but:Theblackdog wrote:The engine pods work well in most cases - especially on that frigate, but I'm not sure I like them on the scoutship.

Also, I finished the last two ships.

Re: Frangerian Navy
Gentlemen, ladies, and other assorted denizens of the forums, I am proud to present the Odin Class Assault Dreadnought. It is one of the most powerful warship in the Immortal Alliance, with enough firepower to single-handedly smash entire fleets.

Armed with 2 rift cannons, 6 high capacity missile racks, 6 heavy rotary cannons (essentially 4 heavy phase cannons linked together and configured for rapid fire), 26 phase cannons, 52 light phase cannons, the Odin carries more weaponry than any other vessel within the Immortal Alliance, and can gut nearly any opposing vessel in a single broadside.

The ship's flexible engine struts allow it to generate a thrust vector in any direction, and the struts are also sturdy enough that they can be used massive flails, literately smashing enemy ships apart.

The Odin also carries a single Rift Eradicator, an up-scaled rift cannon designed to provide the Odin with enough firepower to obliterate any opposing ship. Unlike it's smaller cousin (which creates a portal to an alternate dimension and lets energy from that dimension leak out and damage the target) the Eradicator forces it's target into an alternate dimension. Given how hostile most of those dimensions are, any ship that is successful forced out of the brikverse is certainly doomed.

The Odin also carries a dozen Fenris missiles in two sets of silos, each one able to knock out a cruiser in a single hit.

Unlike most dreadnoughts, the Odin carries it own fighter escort in a hanger bay along the ship's dorsal hull. Two massive batteries of light phase cannons are placed to cover the Odin's fighter wings, and in conjunction with the gun emplacements along the engine struts, can create a bubble of AA fire dense enough to shield an entire fleet.

Size comparison with Deity Star Dreadnought.

Re: Frangerian Navy
It looks awesome, and the idea of smashing ships with rocket arms is metal as fuck, but I was hoping that the ultimate Frangerian warship would be some sort of battleship-sized grinding machine.
And I kind of get the feeling that Warhead should be the only one who can name something "the most powerful ship in the Immortal Alliance". I mean, this is a cool ship, but it's his faction.

I'm glad you like the design, and the giant grinder machine is going to be the ultimate Frangerian ground vehicle (along with one of the not-so-ultimate ground vehicles).Theblackdog wrote:It looks awesome, and the idea of smashing ships with rocket arms is metal as fuck, but I was hoping that the ultimate Frangerian warship would be some sort of battleship-sized grinding machine.
Fair point. To my knowledge, the Odin is the largest and toughest ship in the IA, but I'll edit the description anyway.Theblackdog wrote: And I kind of get the feeling that Warhead should be the only one who can name something "the most powerful ship in the Immortal Alliance".
