House rule clarifications

Post by Scratch » Mon Jul 28, 2014 8:55 pm

I've been playing with a couple house rules in some of my IRL games, and I wanted to ask about how 'true' they are to the rules.
6. Executions: If there's an enemy who is disrupted, you can forgo the need for a skill roll and just shoot them point-blank in the head, since they can't dodge.
7. Manual fire shoves: if you have two creations, and one wants to shove the other, you can aproximate by just picking up the model and shoving the thing. I.E., My sniper-piloted raptor decided he wanted to knock the grounded fighter off of the pile of rubble it was on, so I just held the raptor and had it shove the fighter lightly, and it landed perfectly on the squad of infantry below, killing them all.
If I think of any more that I've used, I'll post them here.

The only unflawed system is Lego System.

First of all, I don't know what kind of crazy list starts with "1."
There are many situations in which an attack is treated as an Automatic Hit, eliminating the need for an Attack Roll. A unit attacking an inanimate object Automatically Hits it, for instance, if he's close enough to touch the object with the business end of his weapon and no one else is attacking him in the meantime.
This is as close as the rules get; I don't think that a Disrupted unit should be counted as inanimate. If you imagine that the action between turns is continuous (debatable), the unit never stops moving; the break between turns just occurs in the instant between him hitting the ground and getting up again.

As for shoves,
Thrust is handled by Giving It The Finger. Place a fingertip at the point of Thrust (either an active Thrust device or a point of impact, usually), and push the object the appropriate number of inches in the appropriate direction. The model on the table will choose how far to move and how far to rotate on its own without any need for further calculation. (Wheeled models may need to be stopped manually at the end of each Thrust to keep them from rolling away forever, of course.)
Thrusting with a model is equivalent to thrusting with the Finger, assuming you are Shoving the appropriate distance.

The error has been fixed, although it brought much shame to my name.
In the example mentioned, it was more that the shove sorta sent it toppling down a surface it couldn't have found purchase on anyway, and we just let the momentum carry it.

I wouldn't call it shameful, I handled Disruption the same way for a long time. It may have even been in the rulebook, although I can't remember for sure. But eventually I reconsidered what that sequence of events would look like in real life, and by real life I mean a movie fight scene.

Letting the momentum carry it is what Shoves are all about.

Hey one more thing I thought of, in terms of vaguely gamey ideas for heroes, can a hero pull a redshirt through a wall if the redshirt is within the range? or do they have to be within non-blocked range? Because I thought of a hero with a sack of normal figures on his back, so that when he needs a redshirt, one is within less than an inch from him. In other questions, if the hero's cliche is "Samson esque strongman" can I build a battle platform on top of him? Would this require a feat every turn, or would it just be part of his cliche? Also, I think this one might be in the rulebook already, but can vermin or summoned creatures redshirt? because carrying a sack of those on your back would be more useful than a sack of full fledged figs.

If his cliche allows him then sure. Props if everyone agrees that it's funny.

Why not?

Another question, can SN dice be used in reaction and to modify any trait? For example, if I had an SN user who just barely is out of weapon reach for an attack of opportunity, could she use her SN die to add inches to her angry inch?

If it fits the cliche, then sure, why not.
