Forum & Chat RPG: Homebrew Worm

Post by Silverdream » Sat Nov 08, 2014 1:47 am

This is a system based off of brikwars rules and the Worm web serial. It's still going through a lot of development.

What it is:

- A superhero RPG in a town called Broxton Bay

-You have those in the Protectorate (rich superheroes), the wards (groomed parahumans who do good and fight crime legally), vigilantes, gangs and solo criminals.

-The two big gangs are White Supremacy International (lead by the villain Ironside), and the Breakerz (lead by Cement)

-There's also Death Incarnate, a group of female killers lead by Lord Despair who wear Grim Reaper masks and robes

-Tinkers are parahumans who's powers have manifested in a specialization in tek. A good example of a non-Worm Tinker would be Iron Man.

Here's the basis of how it works:

-Supernatural Dice=powers

-Weapons and armour work the same way in this rpg as they do in Brikwars.

-There's also HP. Normal HP is 2, but characters have have more or less depending on their powers.

If you're interested on playing this on the chat, let me know. You create a character by rolling up or creating a non-OP superpower, and then I give you stats based on the side you're on.

--News--

Nov. 7:
-Broxton Central Bank is robbed by unknown culprits. The vault is left completely empty with no evidence of anyone even entering it.
-The b-villain Gepetto was murdered by Lord Despair

Nov 8:
-Lord Despair and his minions killed the Procterate's main task force, Waif, Gravity, Mario, Divine and Arrowhead before detonating a stadium filled with thousands of people. Parts of it were broadcast live. He is quoted as saying:
"THIS IS ONLY THE START OF MY REIGN OF TERROR BROXTON BAY"
"I AM DEATH"
"I AM THE DREADED"
"I AM YOUR GREATEST NIGHTMARE"
"I AM ENTROPY"
"I AM LORD DESPAIR, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, KING OF KINGS, AND I AM THIS CITY'S RECKONING!"
"COWER IN YOUR HOVELS, TRY TO THINK "oh this could never happen to me" YOU WILL BE WRONG"
"THAT IS ALL"

Nov 9:
-Lord Despair detonates bombs in a mall, killing 47 people, and injuring over 100. He also killed the protectorate cape Moth before vanishing into thin air. 3 of his minions were apprehended.

Scratch's Worm Garden

Sessions 1-3: Stampede and Valentino meet and make a pact to take down Scalp, a local gang lord of the Xenoi Xolal. While doing some scouting, Valentino sees the Xenoi underboss Crispin sphincter, and attacks. In the ensuing fight, Valentino is paralyzed from the waist down and almost bitten do death by rats, Crispin escapes with half his face blown off.

This is what I got

Backstory:

Castil is a construct of the aether, a magical robot angel of sorts, cast down to earth for being to extreme in dealing with the enemies of light, now he is here attempting to earn his way back into the aether by doing Nobel deeds, and while his powers are somewhat reduced from what they would normally be, he his still a very tough opponent

@Brikguy, magic robots don't really fit in the setting, sorry. You could be a person with Aether Embodiment though (although I don't really understand the power).

I rolled Space Generation.
A bit OP as is, but it can be limited.

So I'm thinking a vigilante who has powers of distance manipulation (just distance - he can increase/decrease the space between unobstructed points, etc. Maybe some distance limitation - about 100 metres?). Due to the limited combat options of this power, he has become quite a proficient swordsman. Otherwise, he is still a "normal" person, apart from the olympian physique his training has given him. Chaotic-Good alignment.

@Brikguy

That works, although what does your power allow you to do? The wiki is pretty bad in describing what that power does, and I still don't understand the results of my google searches .

@Quadruple

Sounds good. Another limitation is that the power can't be used to manipulate a person's body. I'll send you stats.

@silverdream

my powers are pretty much the same as the green lantern, except i can also create living construts, and the things i make are transparent red, not green, the flaw is i have concentrate to summon things, so i can't create a thousand things at once.

Name: Honey Badger

Honey Badger is a low-profile supervillain who teamed up with Current. As the muscle of their two-man gang, Honey Badger uses his fire claws to fight off law enforcement and (more often) melt through safes to steal money.

Name: Pulsar

A member of the Wards team, Pulsar is unimpressive physically but can emit powerful beams of light from his hands.

Name: Glass
Power: Tinker (Medical equipment, exosuit)
Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Glass created a powered exoskeleton designed to reinforce his brittle bones. Between his work as a surgeon and his crime-fighting duties with his partner Sanity, he does what he can to bring something resembling peace to Mexico City.

Glass' suit includes:
-Surgical steel support struts and heavy plastic armor
-Surgical laser, focused as a short range weapon.
-Defibrillator, repurposed to stun enemies or electrify the entire suit to shake off grapplers.
-Syringe tail that injects sedatives, as well as an extensive medkit utility belt with other drugs and stuff
-Ultrasound and X-ray sensors
-Magnetic gloves [repurposed from MRI machine] for climbing stuff and disarming enemies.

Did anyone else just spend 2 weeks reading Worm?

Since I just finished the series, I'd like some clarification on Broxton (Brixton?) Bay:
- Are there Endbringers about? (Invincible Godzilla-like monsters who turn up around the world every three months or so and wreck stuff.)
- Can we create groups/gangs for our superhumans? (This being because superhero groups/gangs tend to perform better than solos.) If so, will we control those in the group/gang, or will they default to referee control?
Spoiler
Show
- Is there an 'Entity' about? (Scion for those who have read it. For those who haven't, an omniscient, omnipotent superbeing from another planet who gave everyone powers in the first place.) If so, does he/she have a partner, or is it a 'doomed timeline' type thing?
- Are 'second triggers' a thing, and who decides when they happen? (Second triggers being an event traumatic enough to unlock additional potential in superpowers)
- Is there a Cauldron-esque Megacorporation about? (Cauldron being a group who sells powers to some individuals.)
- Are there any other major points we should be aware of before continuing? e.g. World ends next year, city is host to the Triumvirate (if there is one), PRT leader is secretly a supervillain, someone has threatened to blow up the moon/assassinate the president/nuke the city next week, etc. (FYI none of these are spoilers at all, no way Jose. C'mon guys, know your basic cliche plot twists.)
- In other words, does Broxton/Brixton Bay mirror the Brockton Bay of Worm, along with all the meta-world implications, or is it simply a city with a high concentration of superhumans (e.g. Marvel universe)?

- When is this going to get underway?

---
EDIT: Possible spoilers are now located under the spoiler tag. This makes it safe for concerned individuals to read. Seriously, Silverdream, I thought you'd finished the series.

I refuse to read your comment, as I assume it contains spoilers.

Also, I think that you should contact Scratch. He has his own campaign with the official Worm RPG ruleset. For now I don't really have the time to GM for Worm, at least not for a few weeks.

Name: Adam Towers
Codename: Pinball
Power: Combat Elasticity
Faction: Wards
Leader of a small Wards team, Pinball is a driven and focused young man. Due to the loss of a friend from his pre-cape days, he takes the safety of his charges very seriously.

Name: Crispin sphincter
Codename: Quimichi
Power: Vermin Control
Faction: Xenoi Xolal
Underboss directly under the Xenoi Xolal's leader, Scalp, Quimichi is a vile, casually brutal, definitely psychotic, little slimeball of a man. He seems weak and weasly on the outside but would happily murder his own mother for a momentary advantage over someone else.
