Alkborough was a small settlement on the planet of Hemswell, an Adamarian world located on the treacherous McFadden Rift, the boundary between Calvarian and Adamarian space. The world itself was close to the planet of Darlynfel III, the capital world of the Regis Sector. A pleasant settlement, Alkborough was only a short distance from the planet's spaceport, which was heavily guarded and patrolled by Adamarian soldiers.

It seemed like a normally peaceful day in the city. Although Hemswell was an agricultural world, its position along the Rift meant that danger could strike at any time. Of course, tensions had eased between the Empire and the Federation in recent decades, and so a sense of boredom had set in among those few Adamarian troops tasked with defending it. Nowadays, the only individuals to travel through here were the many Brikverse denizens seeking employment or travel, and the only ones to assault the barricades were stray packs of Wargs with a deathwish.

Today would prove to be much different however. Though the tensions between the two powers had eased, the Empire and the Federation both had massive militaries, so massive in fact that it was difficult for them to fully control these monstrous fighting forces. Enter the Renegades - bands of warriors on either side that still hated their rivals for the conflicts of the past, and who would go so far as to defy orders from their superiors in order to do battle with one another. Though Alkborough had seen only minimal conflict in the past, the force of Calvarian military renegades that now threatened it would prove to be a true test of their mettle.

Noticing the advancing force, the Adamarian sentry yells to his peers on the ground, in the hopes that assistance will come as quickly as possible.

Soon afterward, the Calvarian tanks open fire on the Adamarian barricades. Their salvos miss the sentry tower by mere inches.

The Federation defenders scramble to their barricades, as one of them immediately calls for support from the Starport.

Knowing that the barricades won't last long without help, the citizens of Alkborough rush to find whatever weapons they can gather.

Several pedestrians move into the local store, where the owner produces a couple of rifles and a pistol. Baseball bats and hatchets are also implemented.

First blood is shed, as a Calvarian soldier wanders too far towards the barricade, and is shot.

His comrades retaliate by firing on the sentry tower.

Of course, a Browning M2HB is not to be trifled with.

The streets begin to rumble, as the mighty Adamarian juggernauts arrive from the Starport - Crusader Mk 4A Main Battle Tanks.

Noticing the tanks (and the gunfire) the civilians in the bar begin to flee in droves out the back door, even as the bartender grabs a shotgun.

A well-aimed round from the Typhoon kills all of the Adamarians behind the sandbags.

In response, the Adamarian Heavy behind the barricades fires a rocket at the second Typhoon, which delivers some damage to the frontal armor.

The Crusaders quickly advance, readying their weapons for the coming fight.

Emerging from the street, the Typhoon readies it's own gun to fire on the lead Crusader. They are only just out of range...

More Calvarians are gunned down by the sentry with the machine gun. However, it isn't long before a trio of Stormtroopers set their sights on the tower...

The sentry's reign of terror comes to an end, as the superior aim of the Stormtroopers cause a grenade to land right on top of the structure, and the gunner plummets to his death.

Nearing their target, more Calvarians deploy from the APCs.

Two more squads of Adamarians arrive, escorted by a pair of armored infantry.

The Typhoon and Crusader exchange fire, with the Crusader scoring a direct hit!

Unfazed, the Calvarians continue in their advance.

The Typhoon kills more Adamarians with its machine gun as it begins to crest the barricades.

This proves to be a fatal mistake.

The Typhoon is destroyed as the shot from the Crusader easily penetrates its lower armor. The turret goes flying into the air...

...And lands on a pair of Calvarian soldiers.

The second Typhoon responds by firing on the lead Crusader, dealing some damage.

By this time however, the guns of both Crusader tanks have cleared the buildings, and so both tanks fire upon the second Typhoon, dropping its structure points by half in one salvo.

Just when things are looking up for the Adamarians, a new foe appears on the edge of the town...

The arrival of the Orignak and their Ogre shock troops is most unwelcome.

Yet the Adamarians also have an ally in the form of the civilians. One of them runs out of his house armed with a pair of revolvers, killing the first Orig soldier.

The Typhoon and Crusaders clash once more, as the Stormtroopers nearby search for cover. Even their armor is no protection against the mighty tanks...

A civilian is killed by an Ogre, who crushed him with his club.

The second Ogre kills a soldier, but is then gunned down by his comrades.

The Orignak horde pushes forward, mere inches away from the Adamarian reinforcements.

Having finally mustered up their courage, the civilians leave the store to defend their homes from the Orignak, while an alien rushes for the safety of the bar nearby.

The second Typhoon is destroyed by the combined might of the Crusaders.

The flanking Calvarians are killed just as they reach the fence.

The Calvarian officer and Stormtroopers continue to push towards the Communications building, trying desperately to avoid the tanks only inches away from them.

This lucky Adamarian gal scores a hit with her M203 that kills four foul Orignak.

The second squad of Adamarians is now only a short distance from the main battle.

Realizing the battle is nearly lost, the Calvarian APCs decide to...retreat?

Despite this, the brave Calvarian soldiers continue onward into what is almost certain death.

The second Ogre is killed mere moments before it kills another civilian.

This particular Orig soldier attempted to rush the Adamarian position, but also ran in front of a window in order to do so. Unfortunately for him, a civilian with a Mossberg shotgun was waiting on the other side of this window, and the following spray of buckshot and glass caused his head to become mulch.

The Adamarians push forward and kill many more Orignak.

The second squad prepares to ambush the Stormtroopers as they take cover behind the truck.

The charging Calvarians are promptly executed by the Crusader machine guns.

The remaining six Calvarians try desperately to retreat. What could warrant such odd minifig behavior?

The Stormtroopers however, have a reputation to uphold. They stand their ground and fight the Adamarians, even as their numbers are picked off one by one.

The Stormtroopers are annihilated by a final volley from the Crusader, and the Calvarian menace is no more.

The last Orignak are also felled by the storm of bullets that drenches their position, and moments later the town is silent.

Aftermath of the conflict.

Following the battle, the planet's commander arrives on-site to investigate. Whatever information carried by the Calvarians proved ultimately to be useless, though thankfully civilian deaths were minimal. The same could not be said for the many brave men who gave their lives to defend Alkborough; may they never be forgotten.
