Tributes

Post by Quantumsurfer » Thu Feb 05, 2015 6:08 am

Initially, my plan was to whip up a quick, little vignette in LDD and post it in the Doodles thread. As I became more involved in the process, it turned into a full blown Scene. And since my intention was, from the beginning, for it to be a tribute, I figured it deserved to kick off its own thread. In the future, if the mood takes me, I could use this thread to post more of the same. Please feel free to do so yourselves, if you're so inclined.

Fucking hell this is nice quantum, I especially like the detailing of that waterfall - but that wolf is suitably epic also.

How much more have you got up your sleeve?

A+ work, very thematic and beautifully done scenery, what parts did you use for the ears?
The only unflawed system is Lego System.

I'm baffled by what Quantum pulled off with a description that's but a few words long and yet was absolutely successful in accomplishing a beautiful virtual version of something I had in my mind for a very long time.

Plus, with all the great and active content producers on the forum, I did not expect for the Metal Warriors and their lore to be the first to receive this honorable mention.

I am flattered, touched, but most of all, inspired to build more stuff.

Thank you, Quantum.

The scenery, the wolf, the warrior, the details, everything fits in there, perfectly! Quant definety makes the best use of the possibilities, LDD has to offer.

You're welcome, BF. I'm glad you like it.

And thanks guys.

I think it's called Chill Shield and I think it's in the minifig tools/weapons category. But I can't be a hundred percent about that. I included the LXF as an attachment if you want to take a look around.

It comes and goes. I've got a few ideas floating around in my head at the moment so I suppose we'll find out together.

Well done! I'm a big fan of snowy landscapes and I especially like the trees and the waterfalls.
Are you channeling a bit of 300 perhaps? :D
Maybe you could try putting the wolf in a big cave, peering out at the manly man, sniffing the air with its gigantic nose only to recoil in fear as a thick miasma of testosterone and Badass washes over its snout.

My contribution thus far:

A sound and scent, neither like any Fenri had ever heard, assailed Fenri's senses. He snarled as he listened in, lowering his massive, lupine form to the ground. All his focus was centered squarely on his canine sensory equipment; it allowed him to detect that the sound -and scent- were coming from behind him. He rose up and turned, in an instant bearing his barring his snarling maw on the interloper.

Before him was a man. Fenri had killed countless of these human/minifig fools, but something seemed off with this one. His hair was long and dark, falling to his shoulders. His body was muscled and scarred, seemly carved from the finest stone. In his hands, there was a mighty sword, that nearly equaled his own height. The Direwolf may have continued to examine this curious fellow, but couldn't focus with that damnable noise breaking apart its thoughts. The smell, of bravery and badassitude washed over the nose of the Wolf. He backed up, but was strangely enthralled to come closer to the sound, to absorb it's malevolent...embrace?

The man issued a mighty shoat, and attacked. Fenri replied in kind, after snapping out of his stupor, with a wrathful roar that shook the snow from the trees, and leapt at the warrior. The cold steel of the warrior's sword kissed Fenri's thick pelt. It was then, for the first time ever, that the wolf knew fear. Fenri was afraid; genuinely terrified of the man and his
heavy metal sword. "Wait," Fenri thought, "What is this 'metal?'" The Wolf paused, glaring down his snout at the man. He looked straight into Fenri's eyes. With his full focus on the man, Fenri felt a familiar force gnawing at his conscious again. As the smell filled his nostrils and this "metal" filled his ears, he realized something: The Man was here to spread this force, this Metal, to all the land and it's inhabitants.

Fenri relaxed and sat, and bade the warrior do so as well. Though he could not speak the language of the man, or an language of men for that matter, both creatures understood that a pact had been struck that day.

The tribes of Men waiting came from the forests, at the man's call, and they brought beer and guitars, and built for themselves a stage of ice and wood, and there was a great moshpit. METAL had been born, and that day, that concert was known as Icestock forevermore.
