Legofleet Gothic

Post by halo 3000 » Mon May 18, 2015 6:36 pm

Back last year around august I was introduced to the discontinued space combat game Battlefleet gothic. Due to the rarity and high price of the models on ebay, I got creative...

I started out building a space marine fleet. I didn't want to try to build the GW models themselves, I wanted to make my own unique stuff, because that's more fun!

Here are a few escorts and a Strike cruiser.

A Battlebarge. I realized too late that the main cannon's guns weren't straight. Quite fond of this ship.

Next I built a Tau fleet for my buddy. This was their main Battlecarrier along with its escorts that could only taken with it.

I tried to create a vastly different aesthetic for the Tau fleet to contrast the Space marine fleet. I am pretty happy with how both fleets came out.

The Tau's main battle escort. Quite fond of this design as well.

Action-y shot.

I very much enjoy building in microscale. Coming up with my own lego versions of these ships that already have rules for them was lots of fun too.

Tell me what you think!

Battlebarge is superb. And this whole thing looks like a Microspace starter kit if it that was something legit. Awesome builds!

Awesome! They look so good and would be perfect for playing Battlefleet Gothic.

Thanks guys. I tried to keep the designs as simple as possible for mass produce-ability, but also wanted something that would look pretty cool on the tabletop. BFG is a fun game, but I find it to be very tedious sometimes. Not my ideal ruleset for space combat...

These are pretty cool. In a way better than the original models. I am not a huge fan of those.

Yea, I was never a fan of the whole "Gothic" aesthetic.

These are wonderful, even if they're small. Wish I could do such beauties in LDD...

Great little ships, remember that there are loads of other rule sets for microscale space battles in whatever flavour you want. I like the uniformity in your escorts, if only because I don't think I'd ever have the patience to get the pieces together for all those.

Indeed, I have thought about creating my own rules for a space combat game.

Ah, It wasn't too hard. Bricklink helped, and I have began to organize all my most commonly used parts.

I liked the old BFG aesthetic. I had a few ships actually.
