Look, I have built a mech!

Post by Gorthaff » Sun Aug 16, 2015 5:46 am

After my summer hiatus caused by a mixture of renovating our garage searching for an apartment to live alone general exhaustion from my finals and a holiday in Rhodes I have returned to LEGO once again. It may not be for long, since I am starting Uni in September, but in the meantime I present to you this:

Image

I have no Idea which faction this should belong to ( perhaps 45th Union?) or what name to give it, as such I will forgoe the fluff, and talk about the actual model. I wanted to build something that Is sturdy enough that it doesn't explode into a million pieces if I accidentally drop it. I also wanted properly articulated limbs, with a rifle tht's attached rather than held. I feel like I succeded in those regards.

Image

My second goal was to build something that looked utilitarian. Strictly no-nonesense military. If you look at the picture above you'll see, that the chassis is not unlike a tank turret. I also wanted chicken legs because they are just cooler.

As you can see the walker is equipped with landspinners, as well as tho slash-harkens. No threads though. So yes, I started rewaching Code Geass and I feel like I caught some inspiration.

As always constructive criticism, or any kind of feedback in general is welcome. I really would like to hear your thoughts on this, since it is the first proper mech I ever managed to build. All the others either had lousy articulation or just fell apart straigh away.
I couldn't come up with anything smart, original or funny, so <=THIS=> is what you get.
ENJOY IT!!!

I might recommend giving that thing shorter arms and maybe a smaller or less bulkier weapon. However, I think you have some nice ideas for that one, like the headless design of the mech.

Yeah, I noticed it looks a bit like a gibbon with those arms. Sadly I haven't found anything that would work as an arm and is shorter. The big arse rifle was kind of the point, you know short man walk with big sticks.

Did you happen to be inspired by the non-Britannian knightmares?

I don't like mech that look like oversized armoured blokes for no reason. So yeah the Hummel might have been an inspiration. Also metal gear. Fuck I won't be able to run something like Phantom pain.
