Space Marine Scout

Post by Chron Johnson » Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:49 pm

The Scout, light infantry troop.

This would be closer to the 6 CP version and would have a regular mind to represent its 3 BS and 3 WS. Scout style. If these guys cost 2 CP more than a minifig but have 2d10 armor, 6" move, and normal skill, does that mean I've found a "sling"?

This is one of the reasons I wanted to limit Structure Level to no greater than a creation's Size; the armor boosts at small Sizes are unrealistic and too cheap. Maybe I'll go ahead and do that.

Nasty. I almost hate to poke at the tables with that alteration and cheat myself further out of fielding the most unstoppable army ever. If that guy up there had Size 1, Structure 1, Move 6", and a Normal mind, he'd have 1d10 Armor and everything else would remain the same. Except for the CP, which decreases to 5. If that armor weighs him down to 4" per turn he's 4 CP. If this completely breaks the structure creation system I humbly request that the term "sling" be changed to "bing", as liberal use of the latter during the CAD design of that Space Marine Scout caused the realization of his awesome power.

Yup the LDraw parts library + unofficial parts + MLCad. Then L3P and POV-Ray to take a picture. All software foreign to me but I had to learn in order to figure out how those arms would work. Invaluable for army and unit creation, check out http://www.ldraw.org I wish there were more parts via LDD. There are a lot of parts available from Lego that Bricklink can't provide cheaper.

LDD is so much better.

But LDraw has a sh!tload of pieces, while LDD's stock is quite limited...

For the Emperor!! Yes, come brethren! I shall help thee make an army of Power Armored warriors.

(AKA, I am a hardcore 40k nerd and would love making marines for Brikwars :P )

I miss talking about building Warhammer units out of Lego. Everyone should pick a Dreadnought body part and try to reverse engineer it in MLcad.

Since I didn't like Chron's unit, I went ahead and made this change to the Structure Level rules in Chapter 7. It's a change I was planning to make anyway when I shoehorned the Mechanik rules in there, since one of his repair abilities depends on creations having space to apply a Patch with at least as much Size as the Structure Level being repaired.

I also added a new sidebar to 1.2, explaining why BrikWars rules are so deliberately easy to break in certain areas; so that assholes have the opportunity to show that they're assholes more quickly. This has more to do with rulbender's stupid thread a year ago than with Chron, but he reminded me of it.

Nice find. I'd seen it before and was thinking of it as the answer to the question. Too bad those don't come in non-metallics. But I bet rainbow Knight visors would work too, if you can explain to a Space Marine why he has to wear purple or baby blue. (if only the Jellybean Knights had been Dark Blue, Dark Red, Dark Green, Dark Orange maybe I could have respected the attempt... or at least hacked them for parts.)
