EDIT:

Also Whiteeagle brough up a good point: A wizards SN die should be tied into it's head (specific element) so that you can carry a decapitated wizard skull around for an SN bonus.
So A wizard minifig with a staff has 2SN dice, but then he put another magik gemstone on his staff for 3SN. If another non-magik fig gets the staff they only get 2SN dice.

I think a usage pentalty for picking up magikal items you are untrained in is a good idea too. If a wizard dies and a random, untrained, minifig picks up the staff, I think that fig should get the same SN dice the staff would grant the wizard but maybe a usage penalty because he's not magically trained.

If they get the staff without the crystal yes.

Perhaps the highest sn die size a fig can use is limited to his skill?

That's the plan!

Did he bring up that point? It'd be cool to tie "inherent" SN to body parts, but I wouldn't want to limit players on their choice of which part they feel is most appropriate. A lot of funny possibilities there.

Yeah that would be fine. Someone could strap a skull to his riflr to make it deal more damage, or a cannibal could eat a wizard to absorb his power.

You know, if this were to be done, I think that this should really only apply to the SN die with a broad range of applications. A rifle scope that grants +1d8 range, or a thruster that moves you 2d6" should be usable by anyone.

It might depend if the wizard is just inherently magikal or if he has the knowledge to use magik and then a tool to channel it more powerfully (staff, wand, pizza bagel). If it's the latter, eating a wizard to gain his knowledge doesn't make too much since. Then again, the cannibal could be magikal in his own way by gaining power from eating anyone.
