The State of the Brikwars Community
I think we all know recently many very well-thought of and contributing members like kingofdacheese have quit due to the general shittiness of this forum and the lack of a close-knit community. What can we do to bring back the Brikwars we all know and love? How can we go back to the time when everything was much better than it is now? Please post your suggestions here. I hope the mods can sticky this thread so we can really get into a good discussion about how bad the community has become since back in the day when it used to be really good.

I'm not sure I understand, I suppose we could all try and make more content. But I can't see any major problems to be honest, since I stopped getting booty bothered with brikguy and he stopped getting booty bothered with me all is fine as far as I can see.

That's a good point, actually. So you're saying as a community we need to embrace the YGO. Very astute.

It was a good run for a couple years. Brikwars forums, 2007-2015, R.I.P.

Hahaha. yeah. Gosh, wouldn't it be so great if we could, like, warp space time and permanently live in 1999 but, like, we could have access to the internet and BrikWars Forum circa 2010? We could, like, totally harness the Nostalgia, palpable and strong in the air. It would surround us, flow through us, bind us together. We could make nutrition bars out of it and just survive on it and the occasional Squeeze-It. Oooh, and we could, like, replace electricity with it and use it to power our Internets and our Game Boys. We can still save it guys! We just have to go back, Marty!

It was overwatch, the overlution had wiped almost everything leaving a void which people try too fill up with shitpost topics instead of real brick content, we shoul shut down marblecake, weaboos and beer, then people will be forced to post real content in the armoury, magic sob, reports from the field and forum battles.

Re: The State of the Brikwars Community
Shutting down the shit boards will somehow make people not post shit anymore? Please. Those places exist so that the shit within them won't overflow into more important areas of the forum.
Also:
kingodacheese had a 15-yr-old's good idea for a username, but he was actually in his 40's. He was trying to hang out with too young of a crowd. Our antics legit disturbed him, but IMO the concept of the BrikVerse itself lends itself to less "mature" play and kinds of fun which, as far as I can tell, happen to manifest here as shitposts and trolling. We've had trolling go too far in some recent instances IMO, but administrative action has been taken and things seem reasonable right now. His quitting in what I would consider to be a lull environment further cements in my mind that BrikWars may just not be the right forum for him, and that's okay with me.

We are in many different states, so it is hard to choose just one for us.
For instance I am in Wisconsin, but mgb is in Atlanta.

If they post shit in non-shit boards then ban 'em.Natalya wrote:Shutting down the shit boards will somehow make people not post shit anymore? Please. Those places exist so that the shit within them won't overflow into more important areas of the forum.

Granted, this will cause half the members to leave the forum.

Re: The State of the Brikwars Community
One thing that never changes is people complaining about how bad the forum is compared to the good old days. Even when we first started, people were getting all nostalgic for frappr.
The trouble is that shitpost rage seems overwhelming in the present, but after a couple of weeks you forget about them and only remember the good stuff. The human brain is set up to focus on the worst of the present and the best of the past. But overall the quality doesn't change all that much from year to year.
I just spent a bunch of time posting forum highlights to the newsfeed, and I can tell you there wasn't a single week in the whole year where I had a hard time finding good stuff to post. Regardless of the shitposts, we're still pumping out quality stuff week after week, and there tends to be a pretty good overlap between shitposters and highlight posters.

Can't really disagree with any of these points. I never really got it, when ppl claimed, that 2015 was the year with the "least content", especially when newcomers like RedRover, Nervyr, Valiant and bann154 brought us the dankest content I've seen in a while.
