The Ursa.

Post by OneEye589 » Wed Dec 10, 2008 7:43 pm

No, not the constellation. The Ursa is the new vehicle for the PRA.

The Ursa Heavy Armored Troop Tranport.
Other side.
The Ursa Heavy Armored Troop Transport (jokingly called the "Bear with a HATT" by the PRA troops) is the main form of tranportation for any important figure or the troops when traveling through dangerous territory. It has room to comfortably fit nine people plus a driver and a person to man the cannon mounted on top. Machine guns are mounted on the sides and one on the top above the cockpit.

The Ursa can also carry the same supply stack that was made for the Badger.

The rear of the Ursa and the basic troops of the PRA.

The interior.
The troops sitting comfortably.
The cockpit.
The interior without any troops. Note the stereo for blasting tunes while getting ready to deploy.

This is what I worked on yesterday and today. It was pretty fun to build. Kind of frustrating to get it the way I wanted, but I think it payed off. What creation have you ever made that looked good wasn't frustrating to get right?

The name "Ursa" is from the word "bear" in several different languages. Also, Ursa Major is the constellation in which the Big Dipper and the North Star are contained in and I thought with this being a big, bulky, base-type vehicle that the "Guiding Star" would be a good name. That sounded too girly though.

I'm sure I will be doing more work on it here and there, but I wanted to share it now seeing as I just put up my other MOCs.

The entire Ursa gallery.

Dude!! that is completely awesome!

Did you build these all recently or did you hide them from us waiting for the right time?

The Badger I've had around, I actually posted it at an earlier time: The thread, but the links don't work anymore except for the gallery link. I only redid the front and the cannon of the Badger now.

The jeeps I made just before I posted them on here.

The Ursa I only made today and last night.

Oh yea, almost forgot. Thanks to these guys for giving me a little inspiration. I had the idea and I knew what kind of vehicle I wanted, but these guys' creations really helped me put it together.

it was for its time a revolutionary new tank

what made it so revolutionary was:
engine in front of tank give more crew protection
ability to cary soldiers internally in the back
extremely nice front profile (small)

Huh, and I thought that the lego tank I built was unique for having a front-end engine.

Something that came up while I was designing it though was that for a crew, it's hard to see out the front of the tank to see where they're driving if there's an engine block in the way. How'd the Israelis solve this dilemma?

But if I was to guess,..... driver would look throught a "hole" in the engine or over it,... but I really have no idea
