Sprites and Stuff for MGB's Game

Post by Natalya » Wed Jul 22, 2015 2:25 am

I've been making lots of assets for this game. Here's some of what I've done so far:

Image

Līga Eglīte turned into a fighter pilot for this game.

Jasper Marshall is a badass with sunglasses.

Orion Goodman is your generic white guy.

Naoko Takahashi is an anime girl. I don't think she looks Japanese enough.

I drew them in that order. I feel like as I progressed I slowly was getting better, so that's why Naoko looks totally different from Līga. I'll probably re-do them all later if I have time. Basically you select one of those characters and they each have a different fighter that you can pilot.

This is Līga's fighter. Pretty generic space fighter. It goes pew pew pew pew.

That's some placeholder BG music I made for this thing. We might use it for the first level.

Naoko's neck looks really long and the music gets old for me pretty fast. The rest looks pretty good.

The proportions should be so:

The head and upper torso must be the same size.
The neck should comprise 1/3 of the upper torso.

5 pixels shorter and you're within the correct proportions.

Here's a quick shop and chop to show you what I mean

Necro'ing this thread to post this. It's a longer version of that spacey song. I don't think there's much more I can do with it, but I also think it's pretty cool so I'm posting it here.

You know what, listening to that song made me dig up the midis I made about 5 to 7 years back. There are so many similarities between your song and some of the stuff I made.

I wish I was more creative musically. I listen to lots of stuff right now (but no country or R&B) and like as an artist I am impressed by what the musicians are doing. Recently I listened to the album Redline by Lazerhawk and the stuff he does is like what I want to do. Simple techno beats, only a few instruments, but still full of energy.

What program did you make your stuff in Zupponn?

I used Anvil Studio, which is a nice midi composer that's been around forever.

EDIT: Also, I posted that shit. Enjoy.
