I don't want to share any concipracy theories here but there is no solid evidence who orginized the events for sure. The head of the coup is a general who is brought into position by the current government itself. In the recent 3-4 year there was court claiming the high ranking officers were planing a coup but all claims came out to be lies and the law officers involving the court were kicked out of their job because of this. However during the court of lies many of those innocent generals and admirals were already in jail for years and they disbanded from the army by becoming retirement. The opening positions in the hingh ranks were filled with lower ranking officers who are today the leaders of the coup. Long story short. Knowing or due to lack of knowlegde of their motives these generals came in charge relatively short time ago. There are lots of deep stuff going on in Turkey. The reality is much more complicated than the star wars scenario. But curently the result of the event benefited the president.

It is really not easy to grasp even as a citizen here so I'm only telling you the events that are told in media more than that I don't know.
