The Immortal War

What happens to a galaxy geared for war when the war leaves them behind?

I might try my hand at some immortal stuff through my own Britts and very small immortal force, but there is a lot I am trying to do right now: Nutzee storyline, IM storyline, Novium, possible Tratt, Bavaria, and Assyrian Stuff...

I am all for hoping on to a giant forum-wide conflict though.
This was brought up a couple weeks hence in Silent Sig-Fig's armoury thread, and I really wanted to talk about it, but didn't want to derail SSG's army thread too much despite :rule7: . I wasn't really sure where to talk about it, so I guess I'll open a thread here.

As someone who's very interested in long term story lines in gaming, I'm familiar with the risk that comes with epic story arcs. Big things get plotted out. Big events are promised on the horizon. And then real life happens. People get sick. Financial situations change. People get bored or distracted by other things. The author of your favorite book series takes twenty years and still isn't finished. It's a bit like having your favorite show cancelled after the cliffhanger.

So I'm just going to throw an idea out there. If it finds legs, maybe others can run with it.

What if the Immortal War truly became the IMMORTAL War?

Over the years, lots of Warhead shards have sprung up, causing trouble and destruction in various places. Warhead Prime will never reach the true height of his power until he has absorbed the other Warhead shards.

Well, what if the Warhead shards don't agree which one is Warhead Prime? Given Warhead's personality, that doesn't seem like a stretch. Two Warhead shards meet, and then get into a fight over which one is the bigger shard. Before you know it they're sharding all over each other. Maybe this has sparked a full blown civil war among the Immortals, and different factions are backing particular shards. What if the Wallies have become infested as a Dimmy cult? What if Mrs. Warhead has grown tired of Warhead careening around the galaxy banging moms and has decided to go all Great Hera on his ass? A dash of Greek Mythos style intrigues could explain why the Immortal Invasion lost traction.

That's my hook. Thought I'd toss it out there.

Sounds pretty cool, I wouldn't mind making a warhead of my own. And I'm in the middle of trying to organize
a brikwars game with 2 other actual real life people,
so if they enjoy it, it could be fun to enslave them to the will of this storyline play this with them.

I guess I'm kinda over it. It gets talked about a lot but kinda goes nowhere. I like smaller scale conflicts instead. They're easier to manage and they're modular so you can connect and disconnect them at will to make larger or smaller storylines. That fits in well with our fluctuating player base.

That said, the whole thing has, several times, given a nice "background setting" feel. Not the Core community setting but rather more of a metaplot that runs within the BrikWars setting. If someone can do more with it, more power to them.

In regards to the idea, I think it would be neat to explain the sudden armistice. I'd like to see it have something to do with the core setting, though. Like maybe the various empires got shunted into separate BrikVersal chronological shard dimensions because there was too much ossum centered in all of them and the universe broke again like waves over the Rekonstruktions. This would have left them all stranded in a sea of weaker enemies that they would have crushed and absorbed with the greatest of ease and boredom. Heck, that could even explain all the non-combat stuff that is now a part of minifig culture in the BrikVerse. Maybe the Horsemen were involved in the plot? Then, triggering cataclysmic event and all these mega empires, now quite fattened up, find themselves thrown back together in this Rekon. Some of them latch on to Warhead Shards to lead them and some do it themselves and, once more, everyone gears for war. That, this time, they get to fight.

This post is rooted in an interesting post Stubbs made a while back about all this military buildup and no Immortal Ragnablok final showdown to end the brikverse.

Decades have passed they first arrived in our galaxy. They came as conquerors, and fell upon FICO, annihilating all life on the planet and forever casting the race of that world to the stars. Next they struck against the Scythians, but failed to slay their noble folk, for the United Systems Alliance and Assyrian Star Empire overcame the Immortals, even with the backing of their Immortal Alliance allies. Season Unending - war without end - had come.

And passed. No fleet came from the hole in our space near the center of the Galaxia Nehellenium. There was, for a time, conflict anyways between the titanic bodies of the Third Alliance and the Allied Nations and their master, NATO, but it was no substitute. Even it failed to produce the fabled Ragnablok. But the minifig will not. Chaos drives him. The scorned child will not hesitate to reach for the prize in the cookie jar he lustfully desires. The Flaming Skull waits on his throne of embers. He will conquer all not through violence, but destroy them with silence.

Beautiful. The true monsters are not nazis or monsters, they are bankers and boring people.

Nice writing Colette! The communist are in a couple other sectors aside from purple, but the general idea you conveyed still stands.

Indeed, a great fluff piece, Colette. It seems the dread Horseman of Stability is well at work within this dreaded Build-A-Burger Workshop.

They are dismantling the sleeping middle class. More and more people are becoming poor. We are their cattle. We are being bred for slavery.

*holds up dollar bill* THIS IS YOUR GOD!

So you've gotta choice: Either put on these glasses or start eatin' that trashcan!
