if you hadn't guessed from the title, I'm going to talk about some things.

Lets start with a question that I will develop over this paragraph;

OVer the years, there have been films that are good that lots of people including myself enjoyed. Then there are the sequals, I have met this phenomenom in several franchises such as: starship troopers, predator, Alien, Terminator,...
I recently rewatched the alien films and really enjoyed all of them. even Alien Resurrection, it seems that a lot of people hate this film for some reason and I can't see why.
I enjoyed it and it is the same with other films such as: starship troopers 2 and 3, the matrix reloaded and révolutions, predator 2, Terminator films that came out recently...
Whenever I look films like these up on the internet, the majority of people seem to agree that they are all rubbish.
The question I have is: Is everyone apart from me a complete and utter idiot or do I simply have bad taste in films?

Also, what was your favorite alien film?

Have you heard about the upcoming 5th one and the fact that Alien 3 and Resurrection aren't official kannon anymore?

Favourite Alien film for me was Alien. Alien to the third power was the worst one imo. Resurrection wasn't as good as the first two, but the basketball scene is my favourite.

Terminator Salvation was awful. I haven't been able to muster up the courage to see Terminator: Genisys. Terminator 1 and 2 are 10/10, Terminator 3 is 7/10.

All the Starship Trooper movies are terrible, but the first one is kind of watchable.

The only good Science Fiction Franchise that has a good modern reboot is Planet of the Apes. The Tim Burton movie was awful, but the newer films are fantastic. Even though they depart from the lore in the old films, they're still really good. I'd say they're better than the originals, and I liked Escape from the Planet of the Apes, the worst Planet of the Apes movie.

Taste all comes down to who cares. Who cares that you like something someone else likes. Who cares that you like something no one likes. Who cares that you wasted so much of your life watching objectively bad movies when A Boy and His Dog exists unloved.

You have bad taste tbh. Why don't you watch good science fiction movies like Stalker or Gattaca?

You are clearly not pseudo-intellectual enough for starship troopers. But I'll give you that the sequels are that special level of direct to home video trash. Also Genysis is worth a watch, it's better than 3 and Salvation, although whether that makes it a good movie is down to taste.

Is that just for movies, or does TV count? As the Battlestar Galactica reboot is pretty freaking awesome.

It'd come down to Daleks. You have to remember that Daleks are only shit when the Doctor is around, otherwise they are terrifying. If you want to know what I mean, try 2005's Dalek, or 2006's Army of Ghosts/Doomsday. Admittedly Steven Moffat overused them into mediocrity, but other than that, Daleks kick ass.

The fights at the start and end of marauder were both epic though.

I think Daleks would win as well, my favorite one has to be parting of the ways though, where they just slaughtered all those people so brutally as if they weren't even there.

I have never heard of stalker or gattaca, I'll give them a Watch.

I don't know which Alien film is my favorite, I really enjoyed all of them.

Is there any other point to watching movies? Surely you don't get enjoyment from the simple act of seeing people move on screen.

I think that the biggest issue with the movies that motorhead fan is talking about is that the originals were so very good that it is hard not to compare the sequels to them. Thus, in comparison they are usually pretty bad even if the movie was mediocre to good.
