Hesse is a fairly old Germanic kingdom, and longtime rival to the more powerful Kingdom of Lance. The kingdom was once part of the Third Alliance, but played barely any role in the AN-TA war, instead focusing on local matters and modernizing it's military. As it is now, Hesse is quite an anachronism, displaying typical German scientific advancements with outdated steam technology. The country is however on the rise, as it's king aggressively expands it's borders

King of Hesse, Ludwig II is a harsh and shrewd ruler, actively seeking to expand his mediocre kingdom into a full fledged empire. Most striking is his artificial red eye, the nature of which is not publicly clear, but some speculate he lost the original as a young man in a school brawl.

Wife to Ludwig II and Queen of Hesse, Elise works behind the scenes of the kingdom, aiding her husband in his schemes through deception and witchcraft

Prinz Ludwig III die Fledermaus
Crown Prince and heir to the throne of Hesse, Ludwig III is a physically imposing man, made all the more apparent by his ridiculous helmet. The prince is an impressive fighter but very mentally unhinged; he was once called "batshit insane" by another schoolboy at his Academy, before Ludwig III killed the boy with his bare fists. He liked the term so much, he decided to adopt the bat as his persona from that point forward
Prinz Johann die Scharf
Second born son of Ludwig II, Johann is much more mentally sound than his older brother. A capable fighter on his own, Joachim prefers strategy to personal combat, and is well respected amongst his soldiers for his leadership on the battlefield.
Prinzessin Frederika der Scharlochrot
Eldest daughter of Ludwig II, Frederika is a fiery young lady, expertly skilled in swordsmanship and very short tempered. Envious of her two older brothers, she is determined to show her worth to her father and win his favor through military victories
Prinz Alvar
Third born son of Ludwig II, Alvar is still a teenager, and unlike his two older brothers and sister, a very mediocre fighter at best. Alvar prefers music and poetry to fighting, leading him to often be mocked as "Prinzessin Alvar" for being so seemingly effeminate. In an effort to toughen him up, his father often sends him on military expeditions, against Alvar's will.
Generalfeldmarschall Wolfric von Hochburg
Commander of all Hessian military forces, Wolfric von Hochburg rose to the top after winning numerous stunning victories at a young age. His critics, however, say that the militaries modernization program is taking too slowly, putting Hesse at a technological disadvantage with other nations
Kanzler Reynold von Gerissenberg
Chancellor of Hesse, Reynold von Gerissenberg is a capable diplomat, and has increased the kingdom's influence without provoking all out war with Lance. A true statesman, he frequently conflicts with Wolfric von Hochburg, who takes a more hawkish approach on Hessian expansion
