They did always get the cinematics right. I'm on the fence, though. While the first DoW and its expansions collectively make my favorite RTS of all time, I hated the second DoW.

I liked both.
I may have liked the second more.
Watching Davion Thule gatling gun a row of bad guys was awesome.

I will admit I didn't give it much of a chance. I bought it when it came out and was immediately disappointed with it. I think I played it for less than 5 hours. A few weeks back, for want of something new to play, I considered giving it another go. Now that I'm fairly distanced from play experience with the first game and I've broadened my horizons a bit (video game wise), maybe I'll like it a bit more.

I don't even remember DOW I.
The second had more rpg stylings I think, which I liked.
Oh look I still have DOW2.exe icon on my desktop

Yeah, 1 was more classic RTS (with less micromanagement, my least favorite thing about RTSs) and 2 was more individual squad based stuff. I liked the large scale Risk-like campaigns present in the latter expansions for 1.

Re: Dawn of War III
The trailer is a goddamn piece of art. The gameplay looks... different. It's quite a change of tone from thew previous two games, as well as what I've seen of the Space Marine third-person shooter game. Not a huge fan of a guy front-flipping in terminator armour.
I definitely prefer the first game to the second, but it might be a bit of nostalgia. That being said, Dark Crusade was the best part about the first game. I'm a huge fan of Tau, and the Risk-like campaign was awesome.
I still haven't finished the campaign for the second one yet, as I never stopped doing the optional missions to get gear so I could be better prepared for the final mission. Funny how that works.

I'm not in love with the animations I really think they need to slow down the buildings for the orks and need to change up the animations for the shoota Boyz or just the Boyz in general.

I have been playing DOW 1 with my friends since the 4th grade, it's what got us into tabletop gaming, and that would eventually lead me to this website via a curious google search for "lego tabletop wargames"

No, I'll just wait.
Not sure if achievements or saved games are kept, so I wouldn't bother.
