I WIN !!!

It was a contest right?

I liked the third for exactly the reasons you mentioned, one handed with scope and shorter, chibi.
The scope could have a camera in it that the main computer has a view into.

Sci fi it up. Make it look like a space AK, firing gyrojets or railgun rounds. If you're having trouble with the top check out Soren or Carter on flickr their hardsuit weapons are on point. I think it looks fine with the scope though, you can just claim its another sensor or just state rule of cool! Anyhow great work good to see you active!

The middle one is barely longer than the third one though

Not sure if that makes it more obvious, but it's definitely more noticeable IRL, especially when you're holding it in your hand and posing the mech while making "pew pew" noises to yourself. Unfortunately using the shorter barrel (a screwdriver) with the minifig hand causes some visual and structural issues, so the longer barrel (a 3L bar) has to stay on that version.

Length aside, the top bar makes the whole weapon feel thicker, despite the scope actually being thicker. Again, it might just be that I've spent so long looking at this thing that every millimetre makes a difference.

I'm not trying to shut you down by the way, I genuinely appreciate the input.

Here you go. It's pretty sparse though, mainly because I used to have different standards for stuff I'd post here than on Flickr (both in terms of build quality and photo quality). Which is funny considering that almost nothing I've posted on Flickr has good photography anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It also means hardly anything I build gets posted on Flickr because I hold out for good pictures, but never take them. So I'm planning to ease up a little and focus more on actually photographing the stuff I've had built for months or even years.

More updates! A few new vehicles for the 45th Union (I need some more infantry for these guys).

Wombat Light Utility Vehicle

Image
Possibly the most versatile vehicle in the 45th Union's arsenal, the Wombat can be used as a transport for personnel or cargo, or outfitted with weapons for various attack roles.

Seats four, including a driver. Since taking this picture I've made a way for all of their weapons to be stowed on the back fences.

Image
The space in the back can be used as a gunner seat, and the central rail provides a versatile mounting point for a variety of weapons.
Hound Gunship

Image
The Hound was once one of the most widely-used aircraft in the 45 Union's air force. Though now long outdated, this helicopter is still proving itself as a terrific aerial asset, and sees plenty of use in smaller combat engagements. Recent rumours have emerged of a plan to retrofit the remaining Hounds in service with more modern VTOL engines in order to lengthen their lifespan, and to provide a more cost-effective alternative to replacing them with a brand new aircraft.

The Hound shown here sports two high-powered cannons, two twin-linked machine guns, and a chin-mounted heavy machine gun.

Landing gear folded up.
It's pretty much just a Mi-24 Hind without transport capacity. It started as a helicopter, then I wanted to make a futuristic VTOL, but I struggled building the engines and when I found those intake parts I kind of had to go with the helicopter.

Also all of these pictures were taken in mid-April in my last apartment, I just haven't posted them until now.

Anyway, comments, criticism, or poetry you wrote in a coffee shop that you'd like to share are all appreciated!

What the fuck is that
Saw gunship on the frontpage
Woah, quality MOC ("mock")

Regrettably not written in an actual coffee shop. Roc would be crying tears of pride right now.

There once was a builder named aoffan
who decided on 45th Union
with many a build trick
worth Brothers Brick
and now he built one again.

My rendition of the 45th Union has undergone some changes (both minor and major) since I last posted them, so here's an update. Please excuse the grainy photos, I try to find a balance between shooting close up and zooming, but digital zoom is horrendous so this is the result. At least I've finally invested in Bristol board!

45th Union

Image
A not very well laid out Overwatch of the force.

Image
The main man himself, RoC. Armed with an RPG Launcher and a sword, and clad in heavy armour, his unorthodox choice of weapons make him hard to anticipate and thus extremely dangerous.

Image
An infantry squad consisting of two rifle troopers, an officer, and a machine gunner. This is currently the only basic infantry in the entire force. Hopefully that will change at some point.

Image
The Wombat light utility vehicle, the chosen ride of this particular squad. Seats a driver, one front passenger, and a rear space that can carry more passengers, cargo, or a gunner for a vehicle mounted weapon.

The Centurion exo-soldier is a tough and versatile frame. Capable of supporting infantry or spearheading assaults, its size allows for the deployment of high-calibre weapons in infantry-suited environments.

While its standard rifle does more than sufficient damage, sometimes a mission requires for even heavier firepower.

Image
Occasionally even a towering robotic soldier needs extra protection. The shield can be equipped for forming phalanxes, or breach and clear situations.
Image
The Secutor tank is heavily armed and heavily armoured. Smaller than most mainline tanks, the Secutor only requires a single operator to control driving and gunning. Sporting a high-calibre cannon, a machine gun, and two guided missile launchers, the Secutor can provide varied firepower for a wide array of targets.

While the original Iron Maiden series remains a figurehead of the 45th Union's arsenal, a new pattern of the beloved platform has been developed. The IMX-1 is the first in this series, sporting sleeker armour plating, more dexterous feet, and a revamped rifle. Otherwise the Maiden remains mostly unchanged, sticking to the proven formula of the original series.

Remember this line?
Recent rumours have emerged of a plan to retrofit the remaining Hounds in service with more modern VTOL engines in order to lengthen their lifespan, and to provide a more cost-effective alternative to replacing them with a brand new aircraft.
Well, here we are.

Image
The Cerberus gunship is the modernization of the Hound helicopter, replacing its rotors for more up-to-date VTOL engines. The extra wing space also allows for two missile launching suites in addition to its machine guns. While the Cerberus does not currently support the Hound's high-power cannons, the 45th's R&D team is looking into a way to reintroduce this armament option.

Image
Pilot and gunner roles remain nearly identical to the Hound.

Image
The Cerberus was designed to change as little as possible from the Hound, including being balanced around the Hound's landing gear.
Image
Bonus picture of the force's vehicle crews.

Image
Spectres are specialized infiltrators. Their cloaks have the ability to refract light in order to make them nearly invisible, and they can be armed with a variety of covert weapons, whether for assassination missions or for last-ditch defense. This particular one sports a suppressed submachinegun. This is the best view any living person has ever gotten of a Spectre.
(They're so stealthy I forgot to add this picture when I made this post!)

This is the first in a series of (hopefully) upcoming new additions and updates. Next up is the United Systems Alliance (those of you in the Discord chat may have some idea of what to expect).

Comments, criticism, and vehement defences of your favourite chocolate bars are all welcome!

Everything is so good. I love the fact that the Wombat is 5 studs wide, and the Cerberus is amazing.

Photo quality looks fine to me.

Everything looks great! Love the new VTOL thrusters on the hound especially.

But you're definitely going to need more infantry for brickfair...
