In a time long past, a realm known as Earth was threatened by disaster. The people of earth readied massive colony ships to evacuate its population of planet, placing millions into cryogenic sleep. Very little is known of the realm, or its people.
Aboard one of those ships were a tribe known as The Mirthanese. It is unknown how long they drifted across the black gulfs of space, but it would seem that, at some point, that their ship “Spirit of Unity” entered a wormhole and ended up in Galaxia Nehellenium some 4000 Years ago. The ship was found by a group of pirates, who inadvertently awakened its inhabitants. After easily overpowering the tiny pirate crew, the pirate captain led the Mirthanese to a habitable world which they named, Nova Mirthan.
Over time the Mirthanese flourished, and soon began stepping back into space with ships, satellites, and eventually colonies. As of present day Nova Mirthan is on par with most civilizations of today. Its homeworld of Nova Mirthan is the capitol, with 4 other major worlds, Arcadia, Juno, Perseus, and Avalon. Nova Mirthan also has over 300 smaller colony worlds, however none have a population higher than 5 million.
100 Years ago, the Mirthanese faced their greatest test, when explorers accidently awakened an ancient machine race known as the Itrons. The Itronic homeworld was activated, and massive and technologically superior ships began to circulate Mirthanese space, with outmatched Mirthanese forces only able to achieve sparse victories using either overwhelming numbers, or hit-and-run skirmishes. For 40 Years the war raged until suddenly, The Itrons stopped, one by one their fleets and ground forces where purged from Mirthanese space. The Itrons now sit idle on their homewold, the system under constant guard and surveillance. All captured tech was seized by the Mirthanese, and is rumored to be the source of its naval stealth technology.
Militarily, Nova Mirthan has been described as a “Sleeping Giant” due to the relatively low number of citizens who serve in its armed forces its doctrine emphasizes mobility and individual initiative rather than “Big fleets and Big Battalions. On the offensive, Mirthanese forces will bypass enemy strongpoints, to disrupt supply lines. As well as hit headquarters, supply depots, and support units to keep opponents perpetually off balance. Units assigned to outer colonies are tiny, token garrisons at best. These units are not expected to defeat invaders on their own, but to gather intelligence in preparation for overwhelming counterattacks by fleets positioned at strategic stations across Mirthanese Space. The Mirthanese military is divided into four services. The Mirthanese Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines.
The Army is responsible for sustained planet based warfare.
The Air Force provides atmospheric and orbital support.
The Navy conducts space-borne operations
The Marines operate as acts rapid reaction force.
Mirthanese Dress Uniform

Worn at formal events, the dress uniform displays medals and achievements for each soldier.
Mirthanese Working Uniform

A mainstay both planetside and aboard ships, the working uniform is the standard day-to-day for Nova Mirthanese Personnel.
Mirthanese Infantrymen

Mirthanese infantry are trained to operate in both habitable and non-habitable environments. Missions could occur on any planet, from a garden world, to a toxic moon with sulphur atmosphere. Their armored suits can be fully sealed, with a recycling oxygen supply for up to 72 hours, it includes drinking tubes for canteens.
Mirthanese Marine Shock Troops

Marines are heavy shock infantry available only to the Marine Corps. They typically do not equip camouflage patterns, due to the vast array of environments they could be deployed to at a moment’s notice. The dark blue and gray does however fit with ship corridors, ideal for boarding actions. Although the camouflage factor is considered irrelevant by commanders, as such troops wear heavy armor and are usually accompanied by massive fire support.
Mirthanese Combat Spacewalkers

An analogue to combat divers of old. Combat spacewalkers often leave their vessels to perform technical tasks ranging from damage assessment, sabotaging satellites, or defusing space mines. All too frequently, spacewalkers have faced danger from pirate salvagers or other EVA borne threats, requiring them to be armed. The career field is rather “prestigious” many combat spacewalkers are often cocky and self-centered, due to the danger of the job and media romanticizing.
Mirthanese Sentinels

Soldiers and Marines who distinguish themselves in training camp, are selected to take part in the rigorous Interplanetary Combatives School. With curriculum that includes jet-pack flight, zero-gravity combat, combat diving, and magik. Those who graduate are given the title “sentinel” They are granted funds and authorized to purchase their own equipment to suit their needs, they typically work in small groups.
Vehicles and Equipment ***Coming Soon***
The Mirthanese forces operate a variety of combat and utility vehicles for support of ground based operations. These vehicles are typically fast, and reasonably protected with shields, kinetic barriers, and active protection systems taking the place of heavy armor. Vehicles are light to aid rapid deployment from space, and to increase mobility.
Atmospheric Aircraft ***Coming Soon***
The Air Force primarily operates atmospheric craft for defense, and support of ground forces. Some aircraft can be configured to carry stand-off weapons capable of sub-orbital flight to hit targets in low orbit. In prolonged war, such aircraft would typically be landed in cargo ships and rolled out for action. The Navy and Marines operate their own smaller fleet of specialized aircraft designed to be dropped into upper atmosphere and glide into operational atmosphere. The aircraft carry auxiliary space engines, which allow them to re-enter low orbit and rendezvous with their carrier.
Ships
Mirthanese Naval doctrine differs from most. The Mirthanese navy consists of many escort sized-ships with cruiser and battlecruiser sized vessels for defense and support. While the navy does operate Battleships and Dreadnoughts, they’re numbers are small, and are expected to operate within, or close to Mirthanese space. Ships prefer to avoid open space battles, favoring stealth systems and attacks using torpedoes or mass accelerators. These tactics allow Mirthanese ships to remain unseen, and use circular orbit mechanics to hit targets even while hiding behind planets or other celestial bodies.
