Unwelcome Guests

Post by Joshua » Wed Oct 06, 2021 1:56 pm

(Note: This was originally going to be a forum battle, but after I started constructing the playing field, I realized it was way too small. It would have been a 2 or 3 turn battle with the Undead player getting creamed, so a Report From the Field it is!)

Continued from here.

The trio have been making their way through the Mines of Mirith for about a day now, the glow of their torches along with the occasional sunlight lighting up their surroundings. The Mines have been abandoned for over a hundred years now, and the air was dank and musty.

While walking through a narrow corridor, they noticed an eerie green glow snaking out from between cracks in the heavy wooden door in front of them.

Upon opening the door, their eyes were flooded with light. A hole in the high ceiling allowed a shaft of sunlight to come in that illuminated the whole chamber.

Image
After allowing their eyes to adjust, they realized something wasn't quite right. A necromancer is performing some sort of ritual on the sarcophagus in the middle of the room.

Now, the rules are: the necromancer needs until the end of 4 turns to complete his ritual. Hero's can't perform heroic feats, and have 2HP. Black Skeletons behave identical to Zahru II's black skeletons. Also, turn order is as follows: Undead, Lillian, Muradin, and finally, Sir John.

Turn 1

Image
A skeleton attacks Lillian, but does pitiful damage.

Image
The two elite armored skeletons move up and attack, one missing wildly, but the other lands a hit on Muradin. His armor holds.

Image
The rest of the skeletons save one move forward.

Image
Lillian tries to stab the skeleton with her dagger, but fails, while Muradin gets his axe tangled up in the elite skeleton's blade.

Image
Sir John is more successful, killing the other elite armored skeleton.

Turn 2

Image
The elite skeleton stabs Muradin (-1HP) while the other skeleton fails to harm Lillian.

Image
Two more skeletons move forward and gang up on Sir John. (-1HP)

Image
The other ones move up, but fail to cause any harm.

Image
Lillian dispatches the skeleton she was in close-combat with, wile Muradin goes into a frenzy and hacks apart the other elite skeleton.

Image
Sir John turns around his halberd, and smashes it into the skeletons that attacked him.

Turn 3

Image
One of the black skeletons attacks Muradin, but doesn't wound him. The other skeleton fails his attack.

Image
Lillian kills the final normal skeleton while Muradin hacks apart the black skeleton.

Image
On the other side, Sir John lunges forward and pins the other black skeleton up against the door, killing it.

Turn 4

Image
The black skeleton successfully comes back to life, but isn't able to free itself.

Image

Necromancer: "Noooo!!! The ritual is almost complete!" 'slash'

Image

Muradin: "Now, let's see what is in this tomb." 'grunts'

Image

Muradin: "Aha! The axe!"

I like the esthetics you use for your builds they get to the point and have a very recognizable style of your own.
My one suggestion is to use backdrop to hide the "house" I use large sheets of coloured construction paper my self. I get them from the dollar store for about a dollar each so you don't brake the bank.

Thanks for your comment, SirZaphod! As for the suggestion, I just might do that.
