The Battle for the Derelict Ship - Turn 2

Post by Joshua » Sun Jun 05, 2022 8:31 am

Things start to heat up this turn!

Assyrians - Cracjaw

Image
The Assyrians move up once again. The Star of Assyria sacrifices some forward momentum to turn more.

Image
Still just barely out of range with all weapons, the Torpedo Frigates launch their torpedoes.

Immortals - Screech

Image
The MK.I missile explodes on the Akkadian cruiser, taking out a shield point.

Image
The fighters continue chasing after the Assyrian frigates.

Image
Response fire knocks out the shields on the lead fighter.

Image
The fighters retaliate and strip a Mercury of it's shields.

Image
The Death Everest fires it's MK.II missile launchers, but one critical fails and explodes in the tube!

Image
No SP are lost, but the Light Carrier is down a missile launcher.

Image
The other tube fires successfully, and another MK.II missile flies towards the Assyrians.

Image

Commander Graves: "Engines full reverse! Bring us into position to fire onto the Akkadians."

Image
Success! The Immortal ships turn nearly 45 degrees, despite moving forward very little.

Image
Despite not having the Carrier's centerline weapons on target, the Immortals still do a number on the Akkadian's shields, taking down 2 more points on the nearest cruiser and the Torpedo Frigate.

Image
The Destroyer fires it's MK.I missiles, thankfully without incident.

Image
And despite being within 6" of the Akkadian cruiser (meaning they would explode this turn) excellent roles from both anti-fighter turrets hit both missiles before impact!

Neo-Prussians - Bragallot

Image
The Dominator deploys it's fighters.

Image
And then everyone moves up towards the Akkadian's left flank and pilots buff the ship's weapons.

Image
The Himmelsjäger concentrates on the nearby Assyrian torpedo...

Image
And detonates it prematurely with her Farcical powers!

Image
Three turrets on an Eagle and the Dominator are in range of the Akkadian cruiser, so they fire.

Image
And they take out 2 shield points on the ship, leaving 3.

Akkadians - ArchyX74

Image
Oblivious to the Neo-Prussians, all Akkadian ships turn to engage the Immortals.

Image

Akkadain Captain: "Fire everything! For Akkadia!"

Image
The Assault Cruisers fire their Heavy Laser Cannons at the Immortal Carrier, completely knocking out it's shields.

Image
And then, they fire everything! :all: The Death Everest is pummeled as lasers impact on it's hull.

Image
The Carrier is torn apart, losing it's Centerline Plasma Cannon and 3 SP.

Image
And to end their most successful turn yet, an anti-fighter turret dispatches the other Assyrian torpedo.

Go ahead and send in your Turn 3 orders! I'd prefer to keep this battle moving at a fairly steady pace, so if I don't receive orders from someone by Tuesday, I'll NPC their ships and hopefully have Turn 3 out by Wednesday.

Alright let's mop up these boneheads (not of voodoo island) and then deal with the enemy currently trying to flank. Blast them to kingdom come! In regards to the feat, I believe it's time to call in a favor (with whom it is, the dice may decide).

Flank? No no, I'm just trying to get the F away from the Assyrians. Pinky promise.

You'll have to be more specific than that about what the favor is.
Right now call in a favor could mean anything from:

1. Contact the Assyrian traitor and have him disable some ship's systems.
2. Have reinforcements warp in!
3. Call up Akkadian High Command and have them wipe this entire battlefield from existence by dropping plasma ordinance on it.
4. Etc.

You get my point? :D

I'm glad you like my interpretation! I did manage to faithfully copy your backpack 100%. The torso is off of a Senate Commando minifigure that came in the Senate Commandoes battle pack from 2015, if my memory serves me.

Thanks! And if you look closely, you'll see I've accurately portrayed all the big ships on the table. The three black 1 x 1s are Prussian ships, etc.

QS Bragallot: "No, he doesn't."

QS Joshua: "What was that Brag?"
