[RK25] Staff(cannon) measuring Contest

Prologue

Vomarsk Battleship "inquisitive Warlord"
Orbiting planet Azurias



"Commander, we have reached the planet. Scans indicate the artifact is here"
"Excellent. Contact the Aton Infiltrator and his strange friend and tell them that we're beginning extraction."
"Sir, we are detecting an unidentified Vessel approaching the planet."
"Hrrr... send a Pod of Mech Drones down there to secure a landing Zone. Ready a Carrier. I will personally make sure that the artifact is under control."
"Yes, Commander"


Seconds later, near the artifact's signature


"Approaching LZ"


"Brace for impact"



"Landing successfull, disembarking"


"Commander, this is Laser Trooper Phi 12. Landing Zone has been secured, awaiting your arrival"


Not long after, the Commander's Hyper Carrier arrives at the Landing Zone. it immediately begins rematerializing it's passengers.



As the Commander and his drones prepare to search for the artifact, the Battleship's captain contacts them.
"Commander, we have engaged the other vessel. They tried sending transports your way, but our fighters were able to intercept most of them. A few may have gotten through our defenses, be wary of enemy troops down there."


"Thank you captain. I believe I have found them."





"Attention Alien forces. We claim this planet and its artifacts in the name of our god, the great..."


"I don't care who your god is. You will get off my planet or suffer the consequences"


Initial Overwatch


Meanwhile, in orbit

I hate coming up with names for battles. So if anyone has a better idea, let me know.

Anyways, a few notes on this battle: This is a continuation of my Hellhunt battle. The Artifact the Vomarsk are looking for here is the second Chainsword.
Also, this is in preaparation for the battle that will be played at ABSolut Steinchen this year (hopefully). This battle here will decide who gets to the Chainsword first and how they will be featured at ABSolut Steinchen.

Vomarsk

on a signal from his Commander, one of the Mech Drones fires at the Jaffa Prime.


One of the Jaffa Warriors jumps in front of the shot though, saving his leader's life.


The Laser Trooper and the other Mech Drone sprint into cover. The Trooper makes it, the Drone however...


Trips over his own weapon.
"Fucking idiot..."


The other Drones move up around them. Two duck into cover, the one that can see the Prime shoots, but misses the Jaffa.


The final drone runs under the bridge to set up for an ambush later.


Cover is overrated, the commander decides, and just walks towards the Jaffa, menacingly. He fires a salvo from his heavy Arekkon staff at the front row of enemies.


One Jaffa gets completely vaporized, one is very happy that he did have cover. the Prime just dodges the shot flying towards him. The final shot just misses the Heavy.


Meanwhile, in Orbit
The Battleship fires every single twin-Arekkon cannon it has at the Cheops Warship.


"Commander, we have breached the enemy ship's shields. Hull damage minimal."



Jaffa
The Heavy Jaffa tries the same thing as the Vomarsk Commander, with similar success.


The Commander is hit, but his armor lets him shrug off the damage like it's nothing. The Laser Trooper is safely behind cover, only a single drone is killed in the barrage


The other Jaffa sprint into cover behind the bridge, together with their Prime.


Two Jaffa on the other side take aim and fire upon the Commander, but the shots can't make it through the alien's armor.



With a shot from his Zat'nik'tel, the Prime disrupts the Laser Trooper. Luckily (for the Trooper) the second shot misses, or else the alien would've been done for.



Meanwhile, in Orbit
The Cheops flies by the Vomarsk Battleship to turn one of its undamaged sdes towards the alien Vessel. Light Staff cannons may be best against incoming fighters, but enough og them firing at once are enough to breach through enemy capital ships.
"Shields Failing! Targeting System damaged"



Overwatch

The Laser Trooper and Mech Drone get back up. both of them are still a bit shaken though and aren't able to move.


The Commander just does not care about his own safety. He runs into the middle of the Jaffa.


"Yippie-kay-yay"



Sadly his other shots miss and the weapon overheats.
The Drone under the bridge continues its path around the enemy and attempts to shoot one of the Jaffa in the back. It critfails and drops the staff weapon.


Trying to take revenge on the Prime, the Laser Trooper fires his arm cannons. A Jaffa jumps in the way though. Not that it would've been necessary, the damage doesn't even overcome the redshirt's armor.


One Drone climbs up to the high ground next to one of the Jaffa. together with another Drone from the low ground, it... misses the enemy warrior completely.


The Two Mech Drones... also miss.


"What a fucking failure... I guess I'll have to do everything myself!"
The commander picks up the dead jaffa's heavy Staff cannon.


he finishes off the disrupted redshirt from before and forces another Jaffa to jump in front of the Prime.


Meanwhile, in Orbit
"Prepare the Ion Disruptor!"


That... did some things. Half the Cheops warship is destroyed by the Battleship's main cannon.



Jaffa

"Get off my rock!"
The Jaffa on the High ground shoots the drone that climbed up to him, knocking the alien back down.




The rest of the Jaffa fire at the Commander. Finally they manage to breach through his armor and wound the alien, but he survives on a wound.


Meanwhile, in Orbit

The Cheops warship turns and fires its last two Staff cannons at the battleship. It gets incredibly lucky and hits a few critical spots in the Alien ship's armor.


With it's last energy, the battleship fires it's remaining Arekkon turret, melting through the Cheops' armor once again. It's enough to take the pyramid down with it, both ships are ripped apart by explosions.

The Commander mows down the two Jaffa warrior's that dared shoot him.



On the other side of the battlefield, two drones kill the remaining Jaffa Warrior.



The Laser Trooper and his two Mech Drones combine fire on the Prime, completely vaporizing the last of the Jaffa squad.



"Captain, we have removed the irritation. What is your status? Captain? Hrrr... guess we'll have to wait for reinforcements. Find the artifact and set up base. This'll take a while."

Fun: 10 Didn't really get the feel for this one? Might just be me?

Violence: 8 That was a lot of destruction...

Photo: 8 Decent photos, immersion was pretty good, but kind of... confusing?

Writing: 4 I didn't really understand much of what was happening here? Some more context would have been nice? I did like the addition of the space battle, but it didn't feel quite clear what was happening there either? Additionally, those areas where you used the bright green lettering color? I had to adjust my monitor's brightness so I could read those, it just kind of faded into the background otherwise, making it really hard to read.

Story: 3 This felt really one-sided, didn't have a lot of context, and while the special shooting effects were cool, it just felt like this was half of a story that didn't fit in well?

No mention of the whole Interdimensional Highway thingy at all, or dimensional anything, really...

Why would it have anything to do with the Highway thing? That wasn't part of the Contest, as far as I'm aware.
Additional Context is in my first reply to this topic (before turn 1).

color thing is noted and I'll try to avoid bright colours in the future, I can see how that'd be hard to read.

Photos were mostly amateurish, which has its charm but was frequently distracting (I'd recommend not using your camera's flash)

Good setup and battlefield, I like the dual layer battle of ground forces and orbital ships.

Vio-lence: 7
A decent amount. Only having two factions and not a lot of special equipment/scenery to interact with kinda limits the creative potential for unique ways to destroy. Good blood puddles and fire effects, but more dismemberment was needed, I felt.

Photography: 7
Pictures were alright. I think better lighting would have helped a lot here. Noticing that some base plates were dusty was distracting.

Writing: 8
You did a good job setting up the battle and explaining what was going on.

Story: 8
Good prologue to set up the battle and you did a good job explaining the context of the battle in the overall story arc that you have going on. No Interdimensional Highway though
