Ok, I stand corrected, but I still prefer larger models.

One of the other reasons besides money that I never got into Warhammer is the painting. I would never be able to play with anything that wasn't painted. Looking at Warhead's stuff is neat, but I would need all of those to be painted nicely. I would also never be satisfied with what I had either.

Yeah, the painting (including 40K models) is a skill which takes lots of practice but can be pretty cool when you get to a certain level. (I've even made 6mm Necron and Sisters of Battle from scratch). Kind of like Lego building skills in some ways.

I've seen some stuff out there with some damn fine rules that come already painted but if I didn't want the hassle I would rather play turn based PC games instead.

ork skin can be enjoyable to paint since you can mess about and put in hints of red or white to show scars or some blue for no aparent reason, common there must be some varyations in skin tone for orks, tau are the same, people try to get the nearest to the pictures yet forget that the instructions are black and white for a reason!

I did a try-out on Dawn of War to see which was my favorite 40k team. I chose Space Marines, with Tau being a close second. It isn't because they are unbalanced, it is because they look awesome and their style is very similar if not completely the same as my own. Also, I am very low on funds and would like to be able to spend a hundred dollars on models and just play.

I also field an Armageddon list in Battlefleet Gothic, which includes both Imperial Navy and Space Marine ships. I would eventually like to collect both of them, but right now it looks like Space Marines and Orks are the way to go (I want to have two armies so friends can come over and play without having their own army to play as.)

Does anyone know if the weird 4-barreled Space Marine "artillery" guns are any good? They look awesome. What about that thing with the bulldozer blade and the gun on it? I really have no idea where to start on what is good and what isn't good for Space Marines.

Okay, the Thunderfire Cannons? They're full of sh*t. I hate them. They get to drop FOUR small barrage templates EVERY FRAKKING TURN.

Space Marines are SO broken.

I glance or pen it / Kill the techmarine. Really not as hard as you'd think. One player I know (Who is a total A-hole.) uses one, just so it get's shot to ribbons by a a squad that didn't have to go kill his tank.

Also, I'm playing Nids as space rats, so frakken hard to convert skaven with fleshborers, 70 something times. Yes, I am insane.

I'm also going to collect Orks, because Assault on Black Reach is such an awesome deal. I'm buying two of the sets. What's good for them? I never really got into them on DOW, I just know Wartraks are annoying (from fighting them so much).
