Early WIP: epic space battleship-G.I.S.F.S EPIC

Post by dilanski » Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:21 pm

im building a large (massive) space cruiser the G.I.S.F.S (Grand imperial space fleet ship) EPIC. it will be 3 floors high have a shuttle bay, foward missile arrays, death star laser mount, aswell as all the stuff youd expect a well armed space cruiser would have. Size wise it will be approximately 160 studs long and 14-16 studs wide, so far i have started the two upper decks at the front but they have no interior yet.

Image

here is the bit i have done, the gand empire is firmly triangleist located only 4 light years from assyrian territory, so it seems fit to have i triangle on the front, the plated area is the shuttle bay.

Image

the cut away shuttle bay, its not meant to hold a squadron but only one or two shuttle but it could hold one of J+B's ML-1's or two if i messed with the supports.

Image

a scale representation to my sig-fig 'grand admiral dilanski'

C&C welcome

(oh and yes natlya the front looks like yours but when im done the overall design wont)

For a while now, I've been wanting to rebuild my SHIP. This inspires me to light a fire under my ass and start ordering pieces.... Good job...

nice so far, though id like to point our if your going to have those large panels you could biuld small starfighter to fit crosswise in the area as long as you put thier wings at the midpoint and have them able to hinge upwards, then you could fit quite a few in there. hell you could just make a planettary assault ship, ie carrier with shuttle bays and plenty of troops to deploy groundward

well iv'e made a small tug vechile for it and could with a bit of tweaking i could fit 3 fighters of similar design but 3 small fighters are pointless as 4 medium's didn't bring down natalya's corvette, but i have thought about plannetary assault, the ships weapons im planning on will be pretty good for the task of orbital bombardment

and strana what do you mean C&C?

Yup, it can take months to build a ship, unless all you have alot of time on your hands....

Yeah, months... after all what's been made so far is only one barrel for the light laser battery. There is more to come.

It looks to me like the launch bay for the Battlestars. I like it, loads and hope you get it finished.

Well it all depends on what your build style is. If you already have a set plan on what you are building, and know the what & where & how to build it you can build it pretty quickly. Only the greebling will take time.

All I had was a rough plan in my head, and it took me a couple of months to build my ASHIP. Took time to do the panels correctly, I had to design different weapon systems and see which combination would work, also ran out of pieces and had to compensate for that. There are a lot of thing that can hold you up building one. Also in the end I wasn't even completly happy with what I had, but I ran out of time. (built it for one of J & B's challenges)

Now, I'm trying to do it right. I finished redoing my fighters, I'm going to have a couple of fighter bay's in this one. :D
