To withstand the front lines, this tank does not use bulky armor plating, but instead a sloped and reinforced shell provides sufficient defenses while remaining light enough for the hover lifts.

While it's weapons are comparatively short-ranged, a standard Intruder comes equipped with a main cannon designed to fire high-explosive shells, as well as a heavy machine gun to pin and mow down soft targets. All of this is mounted on a 360 degree rotating turret.

The rear-end of the tank has very respectable defenses, making flanking attacks almost completely ineffective against an Intruder.

The turret is also lightweight enough to be simply removed for the occasion when the Pilot Droid may need to leave his vehicle

Similarly, the front end opens up to reveal a Peacekeeper Droid ready for combat. A common assault technique for an Intruder is to ram it's front armor into a hostile-occupied structure, and pry open the hole it made with it's front end until the Droid can deploy and neutralize the threat. In fact, it is this tactic that helped name the Intruder

The tank is also remarkable for maintaining a very low profile, as seen here next to it's full crew (Peacekeeper and Pilot droids, left to right), and a standard GU soldier.
