Funny that you should talk about TRON actually because I just watched it for the first time two days ago when my dad got it on DVD.

It's so wierd, that movie is never talked about, never referenced, jokes are never made about it, it's never on TV and youcan never find it in stores. It's like it does'nt exist which is to bad because it's really cool.

BTW the new one looks cool. Sure it has lots of CG but I think it will look pretty cool because you're not really being bombarded with CG like in Transformers or something like that.

BBTW That ship is awesome

Well, yeah, it was kinda grande failure for disney(yup, it's a disney film). I mean, it came out one year eve before Neuromancer was written (in which cyberspace was introduced). I suppose people were just not ready for that theme back then. I really enjoyed watching it, the visual appearence is just spectacular, especially the "glow" effects on everything. Definitely a cult-classic, and I'm sure the sequel is gonna be hyped like hell, and everyone would wanna watch it, and suddenly all stores will receive huge amounts of dvd copies of the original.

Maybe the new one will be good for the original TRON if they spread awareness of it because of the new one. they will make more copies of it and have them in more stores and more people will watch it. My dad has been collecting DVD's for 3 years now and has a huge collection but this was the first time he saw TRON in a store so he decided to buy it.

It was a time of many things. Computer games were becoming more popular and accessible (home computers). It was talked about at the time but only caught on with the gamers and they had the fickleness of a love starved nymphet in a latex factory... (It was the best I could do while partly drunk). It was quickly passed over for the next film in line. The game was a let down too, which didn't help the film.

I still have this film on tape and it's not a bad film at all. I'll be letting my son watch it when I get the video repaired.
