Heavy Cruiser - Thunderchild (WiP)

Thanks very much. The super weapon things already been done and I would just be copying. Besides, out of respect for someone who had a major hand in why I'm back to ship building I will decline, for now.
This thing is meant to be just one of the line. They work in squadrons of three (I'm only building one) in a Data Group, they can fire as a single unit and cover each other with point defence. The Thunderchild is just a Heavy Cruiser (Retribution Class, just made that up) of the Imperial Family.

That would require no creativity. Do a death spike.Warhead wrote:Or I can drop the ram idea and use the inside for a massive 32 stud super death ray like Natalya but with it's own protective doors.
Anyway, I really like the progress. Just when you're building vertically try to keep the ship looking unified so it's aesthetically pleasing. One thing though... Retribution Class? My Ninja ship is the Retribution. D:

Subliminal Natalya is subliminal.
I think the Death Ray is creative but it is particular to the Sonks IMO. (Qestion: is the Sonks Venus Class a one of a kind or is this representing a typical ship in your Navy?) If it had the Ram Field Generator not only could it crack a ship open without physically hitting but it would also have stronger forward shields for the short time it was used. (The generators would burn out after each ram attack and need replacing and they could only run a short time before needing to off line and recharge. Otherwise they would overload and go boom. I always think there should be a penalty for powerful stuff). AND it would need a contingent of Marines, which I already have.

lookin very nice, and i must say quite the impressive payload, then again it is a massive 53". its nice to see so much variance, my only question is if you are going to have internal stairs to lead to all levels of your vessel. i know itd difficult and tends to be bulky, but it makes interior fightes so much more worth it.

I had a fairly good lightweight elevator assembly ready for instalation from my base (it died for a greater cause) but it took up too much room. I will show you

The Lader Wells will be easy to defend and there will be only one other up to the command deck and the Captains War Room.

Using the window forcefield idea I have a red shield to the engineering inspection crawl space... thingy.

Warp Core. Needs moar! I plan for it to extend between this and the uper deck and a hatch on top for ejecting it. It can already be easily removed.

Machine Shop for repairs, modifications and for sitting about drinking coffee.

Airlock ready room. Jetpacks and stuff. The drop down (Garage) doors to the boarding deck are closed. Black is hard to photograph. Especially when your hand is in the damn shot, what a dickhead.

...are open.

Above view with top off. Phwoar!

Umm before u get excited about that warp core, you're gonna need a bigger than 4 x 4 hole to eject it. Are you prepared for that? (The angled black things will stick out and block it.)
What will the crew compliment be?
O and the Sonks is supposed to represent an ordinary ship that the Assyrians have many of.

@ Natalya, Yeah the door is planed for, I was looking at a split 6x6 plate or a similar sized dish. There will be a sliding deck under it all to retain air integrity in an emergency dump. Uh, Warp Core ejection that is. The below deck is the inspection and repair area for the engines. The deck above is main engineering, just like Star Trek. The whole thing will be fully inclosed.
Crew compliment, as many as I can fit.
I don't know how many rooms I can get out of the mid deck but I'm already thinking of adding a small top deck above the bridge. Presently I have enough minifigs of the right colours to make a crew of 20 Marines, One Captain (me), One 2nd in Command (Mini-Warhead) and something like 20 more crewmen/gunners and such. Maybe a medic too. Oh, and an astro-mech droid. The sleep thing can be done with a small cabin and REM sleep inducers (full nights rest in 2 hours). Obviously they wont all fit so I'll cull them back when I'm finished building. Hmm, maybe sleep alcoves not beds.
Sonks, just a normal ship!.. with a massive super laser death ray?.. Man, the Immortals like a challenge, but damn.
@ Nitewatchman + Tuefish - Thanks lads. Nightwatchman, those curtains are yours mate, no backing out now.
