Introductory session

Post by dilanski » Fri Nov 13, 2009 12:05 pm

Today I held a introductory session for brikwars at my school, I got a massive turn out, about 30 students turned up, I planned for 4-6  and had to turn lots away, In the end most paired up, the game was played across 4 2-person desks, 7 armies were involved each with a mixture of units, for example 'Al Qaeda' (I didn't come up with it) had 3 troops and a tank, while the knights had a dragon 2 archers, 2 swordsmen and a dwarf high on goofballs. It went well and in two weeks I'm hosting a bigger game, but i need advice and scenario ideas (we have 35-40 mins game time) aswell as tips on hosting.

Why don't you try something like this: http://www.thereverend.com/lego/brikwars03-02/
You could also run a siege game.

I suggest as a host that you don't control an army yourselfm so you have time to help other players.

Do you have any pictures?

Great idea to get people interested. Great effort Dilanski. Did you really have to turn people away, was there no room for them to watch?

Were you using a communal collection of lego, or did people bring lego? The closest I can do of this at my school is the Lego Mindstorms club.

I would also do this, but I am a closet brikwars player. A person my age would be given hell for doing something liket his at my school.

I'm in year 10 and just started my GCSE's studying highest science (triple as my school does that) and two D&T courses. It was my own lego I brought in from home. Orignally the game was meant for a few friends but X kinda went a bit far. X, is incharge of the schools sci-fi club and co-head of wargames club, he was kind enough to give me his room for an hour to host this, I also asked him too put a poster on his door and on the library door just in case there was an unknown brikwarrior-TFOL in the school, Mr X decided to bulletin it........ A shoal of year 7-8's shown up and more came later, I was forced to turn many away as i had 10 5-10 man armies a few tanks and dragons and an AC.

There is none................ To be honest it doesn't take a forum post to work that out.

Also I still need a scenario idea for Thursday, I'm really stuck for ideas.
