THE IRON LEGION OF TALOS

Post by Warhead » Wed Mar 17, 2010 6:28 am

Created solely to bring about the annihilation of their enemies by a long forgotten and extinct race the Talos Iron Legion are a self aware sentient race of Iron Golems (no not friggin' LOTR yah dumass). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golem

Devoid of all emotion these heartless beings search for races to exterminate and then strip the conquered planets bare of all natural resources to fuel even more Legions.

Stronger than an average mini-fig these beings are able to withstand excessive amounts of damage and survive. As yet there are only a few disjointed reports of raids by the Talos but in each raid the Talos have always won.

Iron Legion of Talos.

Optional General Rule: Pioneer, Storm and Iron Golem's all MUST attack or move towards the closest enemy units no matter what they are unless their is a controlling Marharal within 12" of them. They have no choice.

This is also a handy idea for an NPC army if you think your hard enough) Costs should be approximately twice the norm, I don't normally use CP so you'll need to work it out yourselves). I would guess a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio of Mini-Figs to Golems may prove balanced. Heroes, Heavies and Special Mini-Figs count as at least 2-3 minifigs themselves.

A leader of the Talos is known as a Marharal. Little else is known at this time.

Iron Golem Berserker: Swift killers and hard to stop in melee.

Move Skill Armour Notes
7” 1D10 6 +2 Damage in melee, can always response parry.

Pioneer Golems: These units are primarily used as an Engineer/Support unit and service most heavy weaponry.

Move Skill Armour Notes
4” 1D6 6 -

Storm Golem: This is the generic unit most used in any campaign to date.

Move Skill Armour Notes
4” 1D6+1 7 -

Image

Move Skill Armour Notes
4” 1D10 10* May not double time, may not instigate a melee attack. Always fires either in response if being attacked or normally.

*Armour is a constant factor with Golems so D6 rolls for armour does not suit them. Yes, it's high, just deal with it woose)!

Iron Golem: These troops are relentless in their advance. The little that is known indicates that these troops can not instigate a melee attack and are very slow. However they more than make up for this with their insanely heavy armour combined with unceasing firepower.

These are imba, probably your scariest guys apart from the Daemons and no doubt really effective in combat! Your stuff is great as always.

Your guys and my guys should battle it up some time. They seem evenly matched.

I've just updated the stats. See if you still think so. They are a bit powerful but that's exactly what they are supposed to be. Just limit their number for balance.

These guys need to go in the wiki.
Also, damn you for stealing my idea for a 2-point chaingun which swaps out barrels as they overheat.

Warhead I just noticed: you forgot to tell us what the one who looks like a Piltogg is / does!

Edit: Also, you should perhaps make the leader's weapon bigger ( = better).

Oh, I've changed him slightly. Think of him as either a sub officer or maybe a pilot, not sure.

Yeah, needs some bigger weapons.
