Another vehicle weapons question
Just out of curiosity, do you guys consider the main guns on tanks to be typical guns or launchers? I generally would use the stats for basic guns, since they have a UR that is easier to achieve on a skill roll, but the explosive power of a launcher is a bit more advantageous, not to mention the fact that 3d10 can do much more damage than 3d6.
Re: Another vehicle weapons question
I usually use it as a launcher for the explosive. I do have some stuff that just has ginormous guns, but they aren't as helpful/awesome.

Big-ass size 5 guns work best as strictly anti-vehicular weapons. Having a UR 3 less than the same size launcher but without the splash damage means you're pretty much guaranteed to roll at least one six, meaning you'll do about a metric fuck-ton of damage to that single target. Good examples are AT guns, fridge-launchers, rocket-propelled chainsaws, and other things that don't-quite-go-boom. Anything that has an explosion should be treated as a launcher
Personally I think a size 3 machinegun (3d6 damage, UR 5, 11" range, and able to dish out several rounds of damage in a turn) is one of the most dangerous weapons on the field.

I would consider a size 3 machine gun to be more akin to a flak cannon, without the explosive rounds.

This. Burst-fire is incredible. I've personally taken out size 2 SL 2 creations with a machine pistol, and size 3 SL 2 creations with size 2 miniguns (might have been two at once) using burst-fire volleys. It's nuts!IVhorseman wrote: Personally I think a size 3 machinegun (3d6 damage, UR 5, 11" range, and able to dish out several rounds of damage in a turn) is one of the most dangerous weapons on the field.

It has been my experience that they often yield at least one 6 on a roll. The more dice the better.
Re: Another vehicle weapons question
I'm curious if there are rules concerning shell types used in tanks like HEAT rounds and Grapshot rounds HEAT is anti-tank while Grapeshot is used against infantry and such, ea. has its own explosive power, HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank round) does maximum damage with a small impact area while Grapshot does low damage in a large impact area.

For different types of rounds, I'd just have different "shells" (as if the gun has an unlimited supply of regular shots) but then you could have specialty rounds the gun could fire with different splash and damage, but have a limited number of those, and how many specialty shells you have left could be tracked by pips or actual brickbuilt rounds next to the gun.

Thats something along the line i'm curious about, but are there rules for distance and damage of said differant shells?

I've had a trooper equipped with a Panzerfaust laying around, (I've been too lazy to take pics) and I'll probably use him in a Brikwar with Redshirt tomorrow, so you can probably get some ideas from that.

They're called "Canister shells" now, dude. They haven't been referred to as Grapeshot for 200 years.Scarapis wrote: Grapeshot
HEAT is also being slowly phased out of use now, what with kinetic penetrating rounds and some fancy new shaped charge thing.

Grapeshot sounds way cooler though.
