The Republik of Independent Planets (R.I.P)

Post by mercury19 » Mon Aug 18, 2014 12:20 am

After a good night’s sleep and a few hours of work, I give to you the properly photographed Republik of Independent Planets!
Backstory: The RIP began on the planet Concordon, as a Mandalorian colony. The Mando’ade sent settlers there in early R. 2,013, but contact between the settlement and homeworld were soon lost in the civil war that engulfed Mandalore. For a while, the settlers attempted to keep in contact with Mandalore. Eventually, however, the point seemed lost. Concordon was a resource rich world, and life was good. What use was the homeworld anyway? Over decades, the original Mandalorian culture was changed, and the settlers formed a republikan government. Eventually, however, the settler’s warrior blood began to burn once more, and they set their eyes on the stars above.

They launched an all out assault on nearby planets, quickly expanding their influence past a dozen systems. Other planets began to take notice, and took advantage of the fledgling empires republikan government by asking to join. For some, it was a means to avoid the destruction of conquest, for others a way to destroy their enemies. Many of the joiner systems were former colonies from other empires, and they brought with them their own unique culture and warfare tactics. Thus the Republik of Independent Planets was formed, and period of great expansion followed.

In early R. 2,014, the RIP came upon two large obstacles. The first was the Avohkan Empire, with whom they found they shared a very long border. The other was the planet Ossum, which stood directly in the path of their fleet to the greater Nehellenium galaxy. Similarly to the Avohkan, they were caught up in the ferocity of the native inhabitants, the Mechanus Empire.
While much of their forces are tied up at Ossum, a few have begun to reach beyond and the RIP is looking for allies in the greater galaxy. They are virulently anti-peach, and are appalled at the rumors of these pwnies which their scouts bring back. The primary force responsible for beyond-Ossum contact is the 42nd Expeditionary Company

And now, the forces of the 42nd!

Image
The backbone of RIP land forces, the basic infantryman is equipped with advanced armor and ray-shielding and a synthetic OT rifle.

Image
RIP assault drones. Essentially heavy weapons turrets on legs, they have a variety of loadouts but are most often found with a simple gatling gun.

Image
I still can’t believe how posable I accidentally made them.

Image
The Raging beast-men of Himac. Himac was one of the earliest planets to ask for membership in the republic, and their powerful warriors have provided close-combat support on many campaigns.

Image
The Kommando’s of the RIP, equipped with a jetpack and a modular AR-21, they are trained to undertake any mission they are asked of. They server in squads of four, with a squad leader and three regular Kommando’s.

Image
The RIP Engineer and Pilot Corp’s work with all of the Republik’s various vehicles, using special link-suits that allow greater communication between the vehicle and it’s pilot.

Image
The heroes of the 42nd. On the right, the Kommando squad leader. Known only as Alor’ad,Captain in his native Mando’a, he was raised as a traditional Mando’ade and has served through many campaigns. His skill and prestige keep people from criticizing his wardrobe choice.
On the left is the Company Commander, Erik Vett. He began his career as private just after the Republik was officially formed. His skill in battle quickly brought him to the rank of Seargant, and he proved no less adept at handling troops. After a myriad of wars and battles, Vett was selected to lead the 42nd Expeditionary Company in search of contact with Nehellenium. He is just as often found on the ground on Planet Ossum, however, ever fighting to further the RIP’s goals of conquest. Here he is armed with an OTC and one of his trusty Westar 34’s.

Now on to the vehicles

Image
The RIP prowler tank variant. Due to a constant need for manpower in their space fleets, the RIP were quite pleased when scouts brought back the blueprints for the Prowler drone-tank. The plans were immediately sent to R&D, and soon the variant seen here became a staple of RIP ground forces.

Image

Image
The RIP Raptor variant, in this case outfitted for anti-infantry. This and the Prowler have become an almost unmatched team in many RIP companies.

Image
And last but certainly not least, the Juggernaut TankPC. Outfitted with six all terrain wheels, thick armor, ray shields, a pair of twin-liked rail-cannons, and a pair of huge vibro-blades, this monster was built to mow down anything and everything in its path, from enemy infantry to city walls. Not having the money to invest in both a main battle tank and an APC, the RIP decided that having two in one wasn’t a bad thing.

Image
A fully functioning back door.

Image
And a Spacious interior. It was originally meant for troop insertion behind enemy fortifications, hence its heavily armed and armored front.

Image
The pilot was originally seated on the second level, but it was found that this was far to accessible by enemy forces, so a highly advanced camera and radar system was installed and the pilot moved to the very secure bowls of the tank.

Image
And here is the whole 42nd together!

C&C welcome.

Nice stuff. It also seems that the Lego Space Marine armour would go perfect with your colour scheme.

I like the mech, looks incredibly decent despite only having technic briks for limbs.

I love the builds of this stuff. The technic briks used in the mechs are are an interesting idea and look very posable. Color scheme is nice too.

Cool stuff. The APC looks really awesome, but the drones might take the cake for me.

I completely agree. Nice work on the mech Mercury19.

Your drones are very well done. Hopefully you'll consider it a complement if others (like myself) complement our forces with versions of them.
