I'll be playing a game of BrikWars at Kublacon tomorrow. Here's the scenario I came up with and some initial pictures of the layout and initial forces involved. The table is a little sparse but it's the best I can do for now. I've embellished it a little more than you see here, so it's not quite so empty. Looking forward to the game.
Oh, btw, the tanks are Best-Lock. $7.99 each. They are worth every penny.
Scenario: “Ark of the Inconvenient”
Timeline: Early March, 1943
Battlezone: German-occupied Crimean peninsula along the Black Sea.
(site of the “Charge of the Light Brigade” 89 years prior)
Situation Report 1:
German forces have occupied the Crimean peninsula since May, 1942. They are using the area as an avenue to reinforce their army groups fighting (NOT retreating or being destroyed, no-no-no-no-no) in south-western Russia.
Strange rumors have come to the attention of Piltogg Generalkommissar in command of Crimea, Alfred Eduard Frauenfeld. He has recently heard from the officers in command of his local patrols that the Crimean partisans are protecting something of great (and possibly spiritual) value in the mountains of the peninsula. He forwarded this information to the Reichskommissariaten, which saw the potential importance this could hold for the Fuhrer. The Obscura Korps was put into action at once, sending one of it’s top agents: Pilot Jens Haussler.
Jens is a crack pilot of the Luftwaffe and an inspired student of the occult. He has also practiced the terror tactics of the SS and is, in general, Not-Nice-At-All and A-Very-Dangerous-Person. On arrival in Sevastopol, he interrogated one of the captured partisans, learning a little more: the partisans have discovered the location of a long-lost religious icon of great significance. More than this, he was unable to reveal as the site is protected in some way that prevent the partisans from approaching. Knowing the interest the Fuhrer holds for such objects, Jens knew his mission: Assemble a patrol of German soldiers, reinforced by a pair of Panzer III’s to overwhelm the partisans in the area and acquire the artifact at once!
Situation Report 2:
Part-time archeologist, part-time OSS agent, Dr. Solo Jones was assisting the British Museum in London when he received an urgent communication from Washington. A desperate appeal had reached them from the Soviets; a historical artifact of religious significance was about to be stolen from them in German-occupied Crimea. Soviet troops were fully committed to the expulsion of German armies in the Motherland. They asked for the immediate assistance of Dr. Jones in the delicate removal of this priceless artifact from the Piltogg’s clutches.
With the assistance of the British MI6 and American OSS organizations, Dr. Jones assembled a small strike-team of elite commandos to travel to the Crimean peninsula immediately. Armored reinforcements would meet them at port in northern Russia. Traveling by train to Scotland, then by air over the Arctic circle to Arkhengelsk, where he and his fully-assembled crew were whisked south, again by train.
There was small chance of success in the endeavor, but the attempt had to be made; both for the sake of preservation of a unique artifact and to prove to Stalin that the Allies intended to be equal partners with the Soviets in defeating the Axis menace.
