It's cool, but not simple enough, you want to build as simple as possible when you build drop pods. Otherwise you can't mass produce them.

I agree with Halan. Also, there are so many greebles and things on this, which kind of isn't how a drop pod should be. They need to be sleek and simple for aerodynamics and mass production. Also, it should be able to fit a fully armored fig with a larger weapon, as drop troopers usually end up being in the thick of things.

I found that this design is the best
There are several variants that can be made including larger versions, I made one using the large curves that you could get with the original Exo-Force leg armor.

You see, this is awesome . . . the mecha/drop pod idea just needs some work.
build a mecha, that is
its own drop-pod - and then you have
something filled with win.

What do you mean, a mecha designed to work with a drop pod, which falls off upon landing or some mech with an outer shell that opens up on landing, like the NEGABLOKS Neo-Shitters?

What I mean is, a mecha that either has a drop pod built onto itself, or unfolds from a drop pod. Any drop pod that can withstand a fall from orbit has gotta have some awesome-arse armour, so why not build a unit that can fully utilise it?

LOL
also thats a neat design dilanski and this wasnt originally not gong to be a droppod it was going to be an ammo drum for a large gun on a now scrapped attack helicopter.
but i have to agree with you guys it doesn't really look like its cheap but i think of it as a delivery system for supplies more thant troops kinda like you radio for a bazzoka and the dropod comes down with a bazzoka on the tank you were going to shoot.
but i thought id highlight the minifigure capability since that wa the most interesting thing.
also mech/droppod sounds excellent i might just have to make a buzzard with a reeentry pack maybe a heatshield and some thrusters that is discarded upon landing.
also thanks for all the comments

But a mech that is tough enough to survive entry and impact doesn't need to be in a pod... plus, launch it at the embassies as a bonus...

I think the idea of a mech that has an outer shell that falls off upon landing, maybe leaving a part of itself behind as a shield will catch on, but building a mech that can transform into a pod mode would just turn out ugly, like some spasticated bohrok.

Yeah, but beauty serves no purpose in the frontlines of war - or plastered to the front of a tank.

I agree drop pods should be simple. But why making one with a capacity for one person? Besides, looking from a strategic point of view, imagine a night op. One drop pod would make less of a racket then a whole bunch of them. But that doesn't matter.
Imagine the Space Marine Drop Pod. it holds a bunch of marines inside and it carries a protective automated weapon.
But yours awesome. Its simple and seems solid. Now its time you make a Transformer that drops in the surface has a drop pod and then transforms into a deadly robot
