Mechwarrior Brikwars

Post by Ben-Jammin » Tue May 17, 2011 10:51 am

Prepare for a long story....

OK, so a couple of days ago I was browsing MOC Pages and stumbled across a game known as "Clonetard City" by Areesta C (correct me if I'm wrong). anyway, I checked out the mecha designs, and thought "hey, maybe I could make something like brikwars withe these".

And thats where it began. I quickly began building, dumping all of the spare parts and extra bricks I could find all over my room trying to find enough to build some serious mech forces. After two days of building, these are the results.

Also note that some of these designs are by Areesta himself, others are from the Mechwarrior/battletech universe, and some are my own designs. I have been working hard on trying to make a decent rules system for these guys, as I tried playing a game with standard brikwars rules and it didn't work out very well. I hope to have some sort of rules done soon, but if anyone has suggestions, feel free to add them.

But enough with the talking, lets see some mechs!

Image

These guys are Federation units (sorry but I haven't had time to come up with cool faction names, but bear with me). Their colors are modeled off of the Davion units from the Mechwarrior: Dark Age game. This is also my smallest faction so far, but they have some powerful units. Shown here are is the Brawler (thanks to Areesta for the design), Warhammer, two Deimos mechs, and a Titan mech.

Image

I have only two Federation tanks. The one on the right is a Conjurer MBT, while the left one is a Ranger class heavy APC. I don't have any infantry units for the Federation right now, either.

Image

Next up are the Alliance units, modeled after House Steiner units from Dark Age. These guys are the light mechs, two Sentry mechs, one Watchman mech, and one White Knight mech. All the designs are Areesta's except the White Knight.

Image

The Alliance mediums, a Caracal mech and a Raptor mech (not the ones from mechwarrior, this is a MOC).

Image

Alliance Heavy mechs: a Rifleman and a Vindicator.

Image

Alliance assault mechs: one Titan-class mech and a Malefactor-class mech (Areesta's design)

Image

And now the Alliance ground vehicles. On the left are the M-7 (Areesta's) and Pikeman heavy tanks, The middle tanks is an Archer (Areesta's), and on the right is an Alliance LAV (Light attack vehicle) and some light tank which I have not come up with a name for yet. The four circular things are infantry troops.

Image

Next is the Coalition. Unlike the previous factions, these guys are my own design. Here are the light mechs: one Footman-class mech, two Warrior-class mechs, and a Watchman.

Image

Coalition Mediums. One Raptor and one Brawler.

Image

Coalition Heavies. My pitiful attempt at a Black Knight and a Rifleman (BTW the handlebars on the Rifleman mechs are meant to be targeting devices.)

Image

Coalition assault mechs: two Titan-class mechs

Image

And now come the Coalition ground units. On the right is an M-7 and a Halberd-class heavy hovertank. On the right is a Reynolds Hover APC and a Coalition LAV. Again, Infantry are in the center.

Image

And now some mercenary units (sorry for the blurry pic). I have only two of these guys: one Marrow-class mech and a Mad cult heavy mech.

Image

Finally, we have the Praetorian-class dropship. Its still a WIP, as it needs more dakka and I want to re-design the doors. Although it looks big and menacing to my micro mechs, in reality it is only about as big as the Dark Phoenix. I still like this unit quite well however.

So tell me what you all think. Besides suggestions for rules and other mechs, tell me your faves, as I plan on building a lot more of these guys and want to know which designs would be good.

Haha this is great that you are introducing this! But as you know the idea has been come up with before. And as I think you don't know, there is already a rules system for these units!

MECHATON

Designed by lumpley games.

He even has his own standard mecha frame.

Added bonus: Check out some of these other mini mechs.

Thanks. I had been looking for the Mechaton rules but couldn't seem to find them anywhere. Also, while Mechaton has some good ideas, I was looking to make a game different than mechaton. Still, thanks for the ideas.

I like them, always wanted to attempt microscale scifi that is ground based. Great designs.

These are my new favorite micro designs.

These look pretty awesome, and micro-mecha rules for Brikwars would be welcome indeed. The Alliance heavies are my favorite. Nothing can wreak more devastation than a walking collection of guns and oversized melee weapons.

That said, the dropship needs work. Right now it looks a bit too much like a giant box. There's definitely some potential if you could get some wings on there or work some more angles in.

I'm trying to get it to look more like a Talon or Aurora class dropship from Mechwarrior, but I could see how wings would be a good idea. Theanks for all the comments btw.

I can't find pictures of the Talon on battletechwiki, but the Aurora's definitely one direction you could go. Just slap some SNOT mecha bays on the side, and add some more SNOT on the front so the bays blend into the structure you already have.

It's too expensive and rule-heavy for me, but I've always kind of liked battletech/mechwarrior. It's got a lot of great mecha and vehicle designs.

Areetsa, what a crazy motherfucker he is. His normal scale vehicles are a prime example of what more brikwars armies need to be like: Overkill extraordinare.

Amen. Building massive armies of mini tanks and mechs slaughtering the crap out of each other just makes my day.

BTW, I know this was already covered in another thread, but I missed it: can anyone here help me downlad the MW4 Mercs MTX Download from Mektek? I've tried over and over but I can't seem to get it to work.

Microscale battles will allow for some sick terrain features!

And did anybody play the mechwarrior miniatures game by Wizkids? [Not the Battletech version] Shame it really isn't played anymore but I loved it.
