You make them look as much like this as possible.

Or die trying.

That is probably the picture that best describes the ASE. Or Brikwars in general. Any MOC that can do that is instantly epic.

Try using exo-force pieces and #30553 and #30552 on Pick a brick. Those always come in handy.

No. Those are cheating and look flimsy.

Which ones, the exo-force pieces or those click-joints? Because the exo-force joints are the strongest joints lego makes, to get any better you have to make your own, which aren't even necessarily going to be stronger, unless you use worm gear joints, but those aren't very ideal on medium to small sized mechs.

If you are referring to those click joints however, then yeah those kinda suck.

I usually need good inspiration and technical guidance.

Right now I'm building a mech inspired by the designs Toksik posted on Brickshelf. I really like the dynamic poses you can generate by using the joints you see on these creations. While he's not the first to use it I found this pictures to be very high quality and show the right angles of the joints to give me the technical guidance I needed to replicate this technique. I also really like most of his designs, the color schemes, and how similar constructs have their own unique flare.

My last mech ( http://www.brikwars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5216 ) was largely inspired by Exosquad.

By the way... if you've never seen Exosquad I highly recommend you get it! Great animated space opera from the early 90's. Lots of action, politics, and romance. One of my favorite animated series I enjoyed growing up and still do today. If you do get it be sure to start at the beginning; the main plot arks over the entire series so you really need to watch the beginning in order for the middle and end to really tie together.

Worm joints? Never heard of those (or I call them something else).

A Worm gear joint is a joint made when a technic gear piece is wedged into the lego worm screw piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4716 , allowing for a very tough joint that can hold more weight and structural balance than any other type of lego joint I know of. It's the same kind of joint that is used on Natalya's AC.

Do you have a picture of the whole joint? Cuz I can't quite picture it.
