FPS Brikwars

Post by devincp » Tue Nov 18, 2014 12:21 pm

So I had an idea to try an FPS style game where each player has one fig and they duke it out on a battle field with a bunch of other players.

The rules would be something like this; you would each have a starting location and then there would also be dX number of re-spawn locations on the map. When your minifigure died you would have to wait until the end of the next round to find out where you re-spawn at. Also for every minifig you kill you get a buff, like +1 to attack or defense. this would allow for killing sprees and the such. also the map could be small and the game would last a certain number of rounds and the player with the most kills would win the game.

Not sure if this has been tried or thought of before but I will post more in-depth rules as a develop them.

It has. In the long long ago, Almighty Benny came up with a ruleset for respawns and the like. But this was lost to the great purge of General Chat.

I'd get rid of having dx respawns since it would give some players an unfair advantage that everyone else would bitch about. I'd just give infinite respawns, and just end the match after the first to 10 kills or whatever. Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. Some of my best Brikwars games involved only one minifig per side.

What I meant by dX re-spawn was that there would be dX re-spawn locations. I see that was unclear. so depending on the map size or number of players you would have anywhere from 4 to 12 respawn location and then roll the corresponding die and then come back at the end of the next round in that location.

I am trying to decide if turn order should be random every time or if those that died get to go first when they come back.

thanks for the feedback though.

So here is what i am thinking.

6. Each player starts out with regular minifig stats. Move 5" Armor 4 and skill 1d6

7. they all start at equal distances away from each other on the edge of the game area.

8. Instant Bennies will work under similar conditions as stated in the 2010 rule book however since everyone only has one minifig they have to be used by the end of the players next turn.
*examples
- first blood
- longest kill streak
- most turns still alive

9. Also 5 kills you will get an 1 time use Heroic feat that you can use at any time.

I would suggest having the players start with just a pistol and then having better weapons as rewards for killing sprees or have them strewn around the battle field. However this is really up to the game runner.

I reckon, maybe you could have something like minifigs get (dunno) 10cp each(?) and then players choose to kit them out before the battle with armour/or weapons, which stay permanent with the minifig throughout the game. Also, instead of instant respawn maybe have a roll to see if the "killed" minifig gets up that turn. If he doesn't get up until the end of the game, that bullet sure must've knocked him out cold.

I'm no good at making any rules, I just get ideas. But then again, fudge it: :sparta:. Functional understanding not necessary.
Mnds are like parachutes. Just because you've lost yours doesn't mean you can borrow mine.

That looks like a really fun game. but yes basically like that but With LEGO and since we all already have LEGO no need to go out and buy Frag. However Will probably get it sometime soon as My wife does not play Brikwars with me but does play boardgames like this with me :D .

I like the Idea of using CP as a reward and maybe this could be used as a reward for kills and so you can get a better spawn position or better gear when you come back but I wanted all the minifigs to start out with relatively week weapons and then get better the more kills they get. Thanks for the input.
