The Serpent Rising, Act 1 - Turn 5 - Finished

Little is known of the lands beyond Northeros - yet somewhere in the East, there lies a cluster of mist-shrouded islands, where a contigent of Hitokiri were shipwrecked long ago. Many years had passed since then, and these people, without any means of returning to their homeland, created their own culture and kingdom on the verdant land they called 'The Dragon Isles'. After many years of relative peace and propsperity, the Dragon Isles have fallen into turmoil...



It all began with the betrayal of the Emperor's most trusted samurai - Jubei severly wounded his master during what would have been an ordinary sparring between two old friends. He stole the dragonblade, the blazing sword of the Emperor, a powerful magical weapon and fled to the mountains.



Soon after, Jubei reemerged as the Red Ronin, rallying bandits and renegades under his banner, pillaging the countryside and attacking Imperial outposts throughout the isles. With the Emperor still recovering from his wounds, it falls to his brave samurai to maintain fragile peace and put an end to the Red Ronin's menace...



This ancient shrine was built for a sacred gemstone that is believed to be a solidified piece of dragonflame. For many years it was revered and brought offerings to. With the rise of the Red Ronin, it is feared that those loyal to him might commit sacrilege and attempt to steal it to suit his nefarious needs. Therefore, a contigent of warriors, led by the samurai Ryusei were ordered to recover said gem and return it to the Emperor's palace. They are also accompanied by members of the Grey Mist Order: the monk Thao Zu and a handful of ninja.







Ryusei: 'It appears our fears were true - bandits are here, led by a renegade samurai! Surely they are after the fire gem.'
Thao Zu: 'Indeed - what makes me wonder though, is where could the ninja of the Crimson Watch could be? It is their duty to guard this shrine.'



Ryusei: 'There they are! With them on our side, we should fend off against this rabble without any difficulties!'



Kyoko: 'I know what you're thinking, Samurai. But know that the Crimson Watch no longer serve the Emperor! We fight for the Red Ronin - do not expect us to hand over the gem without a fight!'

Stats:
-Every unit has hero stats (1d10 skill, 7 inch movement, 2d6 armor).
-Every unit can perform a heroic feat. However, each player can still only perform one heroic feat per turn.
-Regular units have 2 hit points.
-Heroes have 3 hit points and Extra Action.

Katana (swordsmen, ninja, Ryusei, Renegade Samurai) - UR3,CC,1d6+2 damage
Sai daggers (Kyoko) - UR3,CC, 1d6+1 damage
Monk Staff (Thao Zu) - UR4,CC, 2d6 damage
Rifle (riflemen) - UR3,6 inch range, 1d6+1 damage
Pistol (Ryusei) - UR3, 6 inch range, 1d6 damage
Throwing star (Crimson Watch Ninjas) - UR2, 6 inch range, 1d6 damage
Armor (Ryusei, Renegade Samurai)- grants +2AV to the wearer

Gameplay:
-The battle will last 5 turns.
-At the end of turn 5, the team with most surviving units is declared victorious.

Ninjas advance along with Thao Zu, who attempts to buff himself via meditation. Unfortunately this fizzles and he loses out on his extra action instead.

Crimson Watch - Legomc





Crimson Watch heads towards the shrine. Kyoko tosses a hidden shuriken at Thao Zu but misses.

The Red Ronin's Warband - raptor93



The Ronin's men advance, and take position near the shrine.

Imperial Samurai - Scratch



Ryusei and his warriors move in, unfortunately one of them takes a barrage of 3 rifles and loses 1 hp.





Ryusei attempts to taunt the renegade into attacking them so they could strike back - unfortunately this feat fumbles (or goes too well?) as the renegade lashes out lightning fast at him. Damage is soaked up by armor.

The Red Ronin's Warband - raptor93



One of the riflemen uses a feat to set a bush on fire - the sudden flash of light startles the samurai, giving them -1 skill until the next round. The others fire at another samurai but fail to hit.



Bandits gang up on Ryusei but he remains unfazed.



The renegade sweeps off the flames from the brazier, blocking the path there with fire.

Crimson Watch - Legomc



After a fumbled attempt to convince enemy troops to join her side Kyoko and a ninja dive behind enemy lines (although she loses 1 hp from response fire), and they deal 1 hp damage to two riflemen. The other ninja attack a grey ninja but fail to land in hits.

Order of the Grey Mist - RedRover



The order cuts off the rest of the crimson watch and damages one of them for 1 hp. The other attack wasn't so lucky.

Imperial Samurai - Scratch



Samurai engage with the enemy riflemen - they fail to hit but lock them in melee.



Ryusei and one of his men chip off 1 hp from a bandit.



Riflemen escape the clutches of the Crimson Watch - sadly one of them falls to free counters. Of the survivors, one fires at an enemy rifleman (-1hp), and the other uses a feat to land in a piercing shot that would hit both ninja - unfortunately it only damages one of the due to Kyoko's armor rolls.

Thao Zu disposes of a crimson ninja, but misses his second attack against Kyoko.



The other ninja are not so lucky - the grey ones fail to take down a red ninja, and the blue one fumbles his feat, causing him to drop his weapon.

Crimson Watch - Legomc



Kyoko viciously peers into the eyes of the closest riflemen, who loses a hitpoint in terror.



She also fumbles her attack against TZ, but her ninja take out a gray ninja.

Imperial Samurai - Scratch



Riflemen move up and blast 1 hitpoint off the renegade. One of the samurai uses a feat to then knock the renegade into the burning foliage, causing insignificant fire damage and to lose out on one of his actions.



Ryusei breaks out of the bandit's circle (albeit losing 1 hp in the process) and takes down an enemy rifleman.

The Red Ronin's Warband - raptor93



The renegade attempts to set his blades ablaze but ends up getting singed instead. The damage is marginal.



Bandits attack and take out a samurai.



Riflemen break out of melee and fire at Ryusei, but fail to do any damage.
