Where the Only Certainty is Uncertainty...
”I told you not to trust me,” Scratch whispered to the crumpled, dark cloaked figure on the ground before him. The body, dressed in a zip-up hoodie, suit vest, and slacks, made neither sound nor motion, but Scratch knew six ways from Sunday that looks could be deceiving. Though it was dying, there was still light in the eyes hidden beneath the gunmetal mask.
“You’re not dead, are you?”
No answer. But Scratch knew this outcome already. Vami would die very soon, cursing himself under his breath. He might even be trying to glare under that mask. Whatever fire was left in him was smothered and both Quantumsurfers knew it. The box of Fake OT pills fell from Scratch’s hands, in clear view of Vami. It was the last thing he saw.

The tree had been alive only, recently. It sprouted from the unforgiving mountainside and had likely finished sucking the nutrients out of the rocky mountain soil. The snow, as always, settled to about knee height about the base of the tree. But that was no longer the trees problem; it was now merely a lifeless piece of wood, jutting from the rock. The once-Oak stood about 20 feet tall; it had lived a good life. In a way, the anxious god sitting in its branches envied this tree and its tranquil existence.
This one tree, among the infinitely massive pool of them in the universe, was this particular godling’s favorite place to clear his head. He appreciated the symbolism of this spot: a lone, dead tree detached from but linked to the city unreachable but so lustfully desired below and ahead of it. Vami exhaled, and slumped in the branches. He knew this sort of edgy thinking and behaviour was perceived as annoying by most and to wiser heads as a problem that was his alone to deal with. Perhaps the self-imposed exile that drove him further into madness was exaggerated, after all.
The words, “Well, are you coming or not?” were carried by the scant winds of the night into Vami’s ears from the tongue of a person he knew but still thought of as foreign. Scratch leaned against the tree beneath Vami. “They’re waiting on you.” Scratch started again.
“It’s rather late,” Vami said after another short bout of silence. “Don’t be so petty.” Scratch stepped in front of Vami and looked up at him from the knee high snow. He rested his hands, balled into fists, on this waist. Vami amiably looked down at Scratch from his tree branch and made no major effort from moving from his spot.
Scratch started again, “If you do not come down from the tree, I shall have to smite you form it.” Vami sighed, and dropped from the branch. “Bah, have it your way. I’ll come to this ‘forum.’” But before making any other action, Vami gast his gaze over the city below. “They enjoy a freedom they do not even know. Damned mortals.” Scratch paid him no heed. Together, they left the area for The Forum.

Re: Wheel of Death [BF16]
For clarification, am I meant to be including this as an entry in this year's contest?

Re: Wheel of Death [BF16]
Ok, we'll consider the next part your first entry into this year's contest then and I'll link directly to that post.
