It's a shame. I love Nexo Knights, but I love actual Castle lines better.

Yeah nexo knights is alright, it just comes with a lot of weird stuff. I just want medieval style castle lego back...

Nexo is neat but I loved the fantasy castle line with the skeletons, dwarves, and trolls. I waited for that through my whole childhood.

On topic, I meant to say again just how good this stuff is. Red and white isn't a color combination I favor (and definitely not where white is dominant) but the design of this stuff really works with it. Everything looks sharp and clean and dangerous. I did take a look at those Frozen wings. I think they look cool and I know you wanted DBT but the fire blends well with the existing color scheme anyway.

Same, I prefer fantasy over strict medieval too, its just nexo knights is to space agey for my kinda fantasy though I like the red orkish looking fella's. I loved those old castle sets with the trolls,skellies and ogres, but unfortunately I was a wee one and only got one set for a birthday once...

Me too! I snuck in a bunch of orc minifigs when I was still pitching the collectible Minifigures line in 2004 and 2005. The final orcs looked pretty close to my original concept.



When it came time to do the actual playtheme in 2007, I got to work on the wizard and skeletons. And I guess the trolls. But I can't remember anymore if I worked on the orcs.

I'm not sure if there are just designated slots like that. Generally it seems like the LEGO company is moving towards liscenced themes or trying to create lasting themes of their own (Ninjago & Nexo) over one offs, but that's from an outsiders perspective.. I'm sure Stubby would know more.

Those fusions make some pretty interesting and original sets, no doubt. But precisely due to those characteristics they're sometimes harder to include somewhere else, like a faction or theme.

There used to be, when I was still in playtheme development. But a lot has changed since then, so I don't actually know anymore. I think Star Wars eats up almost all of the market appetite for Space though, so there isn't really a lot of oxygen for space themes to begin with.

If memory serves well NK's actually taking the Big Bang theme slot as of current: Original IP with heavy multimedia push (see chima and ninjago before - the latter being so successful it cemented itself as an evergreen/action theme; but this theme type's genealogy can be traced back to KK2, in a full circle kind of way).

Last time we got traditional castle it bombed pretty bad, makes sense it's on the backburner for a little bit. NK gwar demons integrate pretty seamlessly with fantasy sets so there's some silver lining to it.
