[BM26] Vomarsk' Battlepacks, featuring the Battle of the Packs

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:16 am

Here's all the stuff that I've built for Battlepack Mayhem this Rekonstruction. Like last Rekonstruction, I also wanted to once again have (some of) the battlepacks feature in an actual battle so you can see them in action. Of course this also meant that I had to start a bit early to actually get orders and turns in in time for the event. Also, not all of the Battlepacks featured in the battle. The Jaffa were built too late to take part, however, they will feature in another battle soon-ish.

Jaffa
(Legacy Faction)

I'll start with the Jaffa. After one of Ra's temple Worlds got attacked by demons earlier this Rekonstruction, the Jaffa Gods decided to push back and invade the Brikverse on a larger scale, mobilizing everything they have.
This battle pack features some of Lord Yu's army, who may or may not be sent on a secret mission later this Rekonstruction.
Image

The main build here is the Assault Skiff, a lighter version of the Jaffa Death Tank. It's not as sturdy as its larger counterpart and requires an extra gunner to man its main turret, but unlike the tank it's small enough to go through stargates, allowing the jaffa to take these skiffs to attack other worlds without the need for troop carriers.
Image
Image

For minifigs I tried to keep it to four for each of the battlepacks. In this case we have a Jaffa heavy guard, manning the Skiff's staff turret (which he can also remove and carry around as a regular gun) as well as the Skiff's Pilot and two of Lord Yu's Dragon Guards.
Image

Alliance
(Legacy Faction)

The Alliance is done sending out Grunts to do their dirty work and are now bringing out their Elite Units: A Small Squad of, well, Elites and two Hunters make up this battlepack.
Image

Hunters are Hulking figures with heavy shields and armor and a cannon mounted to one of their arms. When the Alliance wants a tank gone, they send in these guys.
At first I considered only adding one of them to the battlepack so that you wouldn't have the same build twice in one set, but they usually come in pairs and I didn't want for one of them to feel lonely.
Image

For the Minifigs, we have three regular Elites with various weapons (Plasma Rifle, Needler and Concussion rifle) as well as an Elite Field Master with a Plasma Sword and another Plasma Rifle.
Image

Buggoid Space Pirates
(New Faction)

After their Outposts in this Galaxy were destroyed by Aton, the surviving Buggoids allied themselves with a group of Space Pirates, upgraded their weaponry and are now back for revenge (and loot).
Image

The Centerpiece of this battle pack is an Aberoid, a mutant vcreated from the same organisms that the buggoids formerly used for their ships. While the Aberoid does have some beam emitter lenses crafted into its carapace, it turns out that these things prefer to just punch their target in the face (or anywhere else, if the target doesn't have a face)
Image

With most of the Mantizoids perishing when the outposts got destroyed, the bulky Beetlezoids took over as commando Units, often leading squads of Buggoids and Mosquitoids into battle. Their red claws double as beam weapons.
Buggoid Pirates are now more armored than before and also get a arm mounted blade in addition to their regular beam pistol.
Mosquitoid Aerotroopers are probably the most impacted by the upgrades they got since joining the space pirates. Their wings got replaced by a Jetpack that combines thrusters with beam pistols. while this does allow them to move around faster and with more firepower, they still haven't fully adapted to their new equipment and have to split their attention between the battle they are in and not flying into a wall.
Image

Battlepack Bundle
Like every year, I tried to make at least one set of battlepacks to thematically go up against each other - like many of the old Star Wars Battlepack Waves (Droid and Clone battle packs, Empire and Rebel battle packs etc). This year, I once again went for some Hellish Invaders and the Sentinels that made their debut this year.

Demons
(Legacy Faction)

By now it's known that Hell's Overlords, when bored, will just send a bunch of Zombies and demons to whatever planet is unfortunate enough to have corruptable minifigs on it that can build them a portal.
Image

This attack force is mostly made up of Zombie Shield Soldiers. Why give Zombies Shields? because they are easier to use as a meatshield if they don't die immediately.
Image

But since Zombies can't be trusted to do anything productive without a mightier demon overseeing their activities, a Komodo Demon, a Champion of Hell's Arenas, has also joined the attack. Armed with all sorts of close combat weapons - from a shoulder mounted shotgun over a maced tail, a steal fist to even an OTC Spear, you do not want this guy to get close to you.
Image
Image
Image

Sentinels
(New Faction)

The Sentinels have been at war with the Demons for so long that some conspirace theorists say that they let the Hell Portals stay open on purpose, just so that they can keep fighting them. Wether that is true or not, it's undeniable that they were absolutely prepared to greet the demons with some heavy firepower.
Image

Hover ballistas are some of the most common sentinel tanks. With the giant Railgun on top, the AI controlled Machine gun and rocket launchers on its sides and the two Rifles in front of the cockpit, these vehicles have a weapon for every occasion, even on low power.
Image

The front of the tank opens up for one of the sentinels to take control.
Image

When not piloting the Ballista, the Pilot can climb out, grab the two rifles mounted to the vehicle and join the other two Sentinel Soldiers and the Berserker leading them.

Battle of the Packs: Assault on Seleho - Prologue

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:21 am

Prologue
Incident Report: Assault on Seleho
Image

A Troop Carrier, returning artifacts from a nearby digsite to the Alliance Outpost, is under attack by Space pirate Vessels.
Image
Image

While the Carrier and its escort manage to hold their own against the vessels for a while, the defenders soon begin to fall.
Image
Image

The carrier barely makes it into the canyon's cover before being destroyed by the vessels.
Image

The alliance units and its escort are wiped out and the surviving pirate vessels return to base to call for backup.
Image

as the dust settles, something starts moving under the snow: a group of Zombies unborrows and gets to work.
Image

The undead Soldiers start gathering corpses and pile them up on the mountains, performing a ritual to create a blood pillar, a portal to hell.
Image
Image
Image

From the depths of hell rises a Komodo demon to spearhead the invasion of this world.
Image

but on the other side of the battlefield, a group of sentinels arrive. They have been tracking down the Zombie Soldiers and are hell bent on destroying the demonic invaders.
Image

Soon, alliance reinforcements show up to salvage the Carrier's cargo and bring it back to their outpost.
Image

but the Space Pirates also sent in reinforcements to claim their loot...
Image

Initial Overwatch and Notes
Image

Players:
Alliance: rflzomby
Demons: Dienekes
Sentinels: casualanarchist
Space Pirates (got the Metroid as a SN12 because the Battlepack was smaller than all the others by 1Ü): Arkbrik

Battle of the Packs: Assault on Seleho - Turn 1

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:28 am

Alliance
"Do not let these Heretics destroy the Carrier and it's cargo! Destroy their tank!"
"Wort wort wort"
Image

The three Elites and one of the hunters move to intercept the Sentinels, while the Field Master and the other hunter stay back to fire at the demons and to make their way down to the canyon.
Image

An impressive Volley from the Hunter (and some less impressive shooting from the Elites) take the Hover Ballista down to just 2 HP
Image

In response, the tank unleashes its Ballista and pierces through the Hunters shield and armor, leaving it alive with a single HP
Image

the other hunter, maybe in shock as to what's happening to its brother, double-crit-fails while trying to shoot the Zombies, blowing up its Flak cannoon. Luckily the Hunter's armor is strong and it takes no additional damage from the explosions.
Image

Demons

The Komodo begins to molt. he tries to use his old skin to create a shield. But he helplessly gets stuck inside. (Feat failed)
Image

Noticing that their dark lord is struggeling, the Zombies form a shield wall around him and start blasting. Sadly, because of their short range and low damage rolls, they don't manage to do anything productive - other than maybe piss off the Space Pirates.
Image

Sentinels

"Ignore these fools. We can't let the Demons take over another world!"
The Hover Ballista floats forward and unleashes all its guns at the demons. Or, well, the guns that still have enough power.Image

Unfortunately, the small arms fire gets deflected by the shield wall and while the Ballista itself does have a clear shot at the Komodo, one Zombie manages to redshirt.
In retrospect, I think I forgot to roll for damage here, but I don't think that Zombie was gonna survive 5D6 of damage, no matter how poorly I would've rolled
Image

"We need to get those Shield Soldiers away from the Komodo... Watch this!"
With the two Sentinel Soldiers watching in awe and confusion, the Berserker picks up the downed Goblin's heavy needler, ready to throw it at the Zombies...
Image

"Uhm. Some help please?"
...and is consequently buried underneath it. Seems it was heavier than he thought. (Feat failed)
Image

Ignoring their Commander for now, the Soldiers open fire on the Space pirates, killing one of the Buggoids.
Image

Space Pirates

Angered by the death of their comrade, the surviving Buggoid and the Aerotrooper rush towards the Sentinels and open fire - but their beams do absolutely nothing.
Image

Meanwhile, the Beetlezoid and his Metroid get to work on the downed Needler-Ghost.
Image

They actually managed to infuse one of the Needles with the Metroids energy and fire it off towards the nearest hunter, barely rolling high enough to compensate for the high distance between the Ghost and its target. (feat success)
Image

Even without the phasing damage from the metroid, this would've been enough to break through the wounded Hutner's armor. The needle pierces its armor and explodes, killing the Hunter and enraging its brother.
Image

The Aberoid meanwhile stayed behind and waddled over to the downed vessel on the nearby cliff.
Image

he grabs it by the tail, starts flailing it around and...
Image

throws it at the Komodo, who's still stuck in his shed skin.
Image

Not being able to dodge the incoming ship, the Komodo is knocked off balance and stumbles back, but miraculously only takes a single point of damage thanks to some critical armor rolls.
Image

He is currently burrowed beneath a Pirate ship though.

Battle of the Packs: Assault on Seleho - Turn 2

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:40 am

Alliance

"Change of plans! Get to the Carrier! We must secure its cargo. And bring the hunter's Flak cannon!"
Image

The alliance regroups in the canyon, in cover between the rocks and the carrier.
Image

while there, they also give the fallen hunter's cannon to his grieving brother.
Image

Demons

Freeing himself from the Pirate vessel, the Komodo grabs the ship by the tail and drags it south.
Image

The Zombies also move south, opening fire on the Beetlezoid Commando and one of the Night Sentinels.
Image

But the Aberoid steps in to save his Hero. The Zombies' shots deflect off the large alien's armor.
The Sentinel... wasn't as lucky.
Image

Now close enough to join in to the action, The Komodo uses its new Flail (because it didn't already have enough Melee weapons at hand), to smack the Aberoid in the face. Its damage roll is abyssmal, but it's high enough to get through the Pirate's armor and deal one point of damage to the creature (down to 3/4)
Image

Sentinels

"hey Boss, do you need help?"
"yes, please."
Image

"Alright, back to work."
Image

The Hover Ballista moves closer to the pirates, firing all its guns into the Aberoid
Image

Missing completely with the main cannon and only managing to hit a single time with the machine gun turret, which just gets deflected by the Aberoid's armor.
Image

"These alien Bastards damaged my tank. I'll show them!"
Image

He launches his spear towards the Elites, planning to then jump onto it and let it carry him towards the enemy.
Image

Sadly, the second half of that plan didn't work out too well and the spear lands harmlessly in the middle of the Alliance squad.
Image

"Hm. Didn't think that one through." (Feat failed)
Image

"Alright, plan C: CHARGE!"
Image

The poor Buggoid doesn't even have time to react before the Berserk and the Sentinel Soldier start pummeling him with their weapons.
Image

he is quickly disposed off.
"Uh, Sir? I think he's dead"
Image

Space Pirates

Enraged at the demons, the Aberoid charges the cliff.
Image

He climbs up, grabbing one of the Zombies and squashing another in the process.
Image
Image
Image

The beetlezoid and his Metroid meanwhile inch closer to the carrier, followed by the Aerotrooper.
Image

The pirates break open the hidden cargo department...
Image

Revealing an inactive, ancient looking machine, that the Alliance found at the nearby digsite.
Image

One of the Elites tries to get rid of the pirates and fires his shotgun in response, but doesn't manage to do any damage.

Battle of the Packs: Assault on Seleho - Turn 3

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:47 am

Alliance

The Elites open fire on the nearby Aerotrooper
Image

While their damage isn't high enough to kill it, they manage to destroy one of his thrusters, letting the pirate spiraling out of control and into a wall.
Image

The Field Master has to stop the pirates from taking the cargo! He leaps over the carrier to engage the Beetlezoid Commando in a heroic Duel.
Image

But the pirate doesn't want to give his opponent an opening. With his foe focusing on parrying his strikes, the field Master doesn't manage to wound him.
Image

having no other targets in range or in sight, the surviving Hunter tries to damage the Hell Portal. His damage is good, but the Blood Spire's defense is ever so slightly better.
Image

Demons

Having enough of the pirates and their Aberoid, the Komodo charges in to put an end to the creature that cost him most of his meatshield.
Image

Stabbing his Chainspear into the alien's maw, he watches gleefully as his opponent falls to the ground, mortally wounded.
Image
Image

Sentinels

The Hover-Ballista once again opens fire on the demons, sending a missile into the surviving Zombie to take away the Komodo's final line of defense, and firing its main cannon into the Komodo himself.
Image

The Zombie goes down in a blaze of fire, but the Komodo survives the attack, badly wounded.
Image

The remaining sentinel soldier goes into cover behind the Ballista, firing at the Elites - but failing to do any damage
Image

With a scream of rage, the Berserk jumps onto the Ballista and from there into the Alliance's position.
Image

He grabs one of the Elites...
Image

Rips him apart...
Image

And proceeds to beat another one to death with the corpse.
Image

(Feat success)
Image

Space Pirates

Not fully dead yet, the Aberoid heaves itself back onto the plateau. It may be dying but it will get a final hit in against the Komodo.
Image

The Pirate jumps onto the wounded demon, pinning it to the ground, trying to stop the demon from making it to the remaining pirates and their loot.
The Komodo struggles to free himself from the alien, but isn't able to remove it.
Image

The duel at the carrier doesn't end so much as it is postponed. The Beetlezoid disengages from the Field Master to go and get the Carrier's cargo.
Image

Seeing his opportunity, the Field Master strikes once again, as the commando's back is turned, but the wounded aerotrooper gets up just in time to get stabbed instead.
Image

With the help of his Metroid and with the furious Field Master unable to follow, the last of the Space Pirates makes his way off the battlefield, carrying the ancient machine, hoping it was worth it.

Battle of the Packs: Assault on Seleho - Epilogue

Post by Vomarsk » Fri May 01, 2026 9:49 am

With the Aberoid drawing his final breath, the Komodo finally manages to free himself...
Image

Only to be hit by a giant explosion of plasma
Image

Covenant reinforcements have arrived to clean up any stragglers.
Image
Image

The Komodo isn't planning on getting shot over nothing, so he claws his way back into hell to lick his wounds.
Image

Hunted by the Alliance's Elites, the Sentinels run off, barely making it out of the battle.
Image

with how damaged the Hover Ballista is, it doesn't get as lucky. While trying to make it off the battlefield, it gets shot down and destroyed by the Alliance tanks.
Image
Image

"Field Master, report!"
"The pirates that attacked the convoy took the Enlightened One. we were able to annihilate most of them, but their leader got away"
"That is bad... return to the Outpost immediately. I will send a team to our excavation to monitor how the ancients will react to this."

Re: [BM26] Vomarsk' Battlepacks, featuring the Battle of the Packs

Jaffa: Yep, seen these guys before, definitely legacy.

Theme: 7. Yeah, they have a coherency, just kind of blah to me. Might just be me though.

Substance: 6 I don't know, it works, but something about this doesn't sit right with me. I know the Jaffa are traditionally shaven, and while the hovertank thing is nice, it feels... half finished for some reason?

Story: 6 Kind of lackluster story, though I do like the details about needing something small enough to fit through a gate.

Photos: 9 You put in a proper Lego-y background, nice angles, baseplates, looks like a diorama. Could have been SLIGHTLY better builds, but it looks great regardless.

Alliance:
Theme: 7 I'm torn on this one. They're coherent, I think I'm sore because they don't look like proper minifgures?

Substance: 9 Look, I don't normally like mecha offerings, but those big hunters are nice, compact builds and look like the perfect addition to a battlepack.

Story: 6 Again, not much here. What there is, is okay.

Photos: 9 (see Jaffa, same comments)

Buggoids: ......... unique color scheme, interesting theme, and that big hulking... .thing.... is just...
Theme: 9 Yeah, this is about as coherent as you can get. You even managed to match the colors in the big mecha with three of the infantry, despite the tricky color options.

Substance: 9 Mechanically speaking, I love that big bug thing. It might be a tiny bit too big for a battlepack build, but WOW, does that thing look good!

Story: 7 There... is a story here and it is decent. I like the quips about the jetpack bugs having issues.

Photos: 9 (see Jaffa, same comments - seriously, nice photos, you did a good job setting up background for each faction you posted).

Demons: eeehhhhhh....
Theme: 6 Not really a fan of this one? Zombies with demons feels kind of... ... yeah, I don't know.

Substance: 8 Zombies feel weird, but that lizard thing is top notch! Good articulation, nice parts use, and you tied some of the lore into it.

Story: 7 I like the idea that the big lizard gets all of the cool gubbins because he's the boss.

Photos: 8 Lego background isn't as good as the others - terrain looks a little cobbled, but still looks decent.

Sentinels: Not sure what to think about this. Color scheme is .... different....
Theme: 7 They're reasonably coherent, just feels... off? Might be the helmets? I'm not sure.

Substance: 7 The tank thing is interesting, but I like the bug and the lizard better.

Story: 6 Not a lot here, but there is something?

Photos: 8 Again, see above entries, just doesn't feel quite as coherent as the other backgrounds.
