Drop pod help

Post by fredde » Wed Oct 14, 2009 12:20 pm

Originally i was going to post this in the old "construction teqniques for the needy" thread but since it seems like "necroing" have become more common and since its SUCH A BIG DEAL! i will simply make a new thread.

Ok i need help with making a drop pod but i just can't get a grasp on it
so i thought i could go on brikwars forums for some help.
I have been trying to make a drop pod to seat four minifigs but it always ends up looking like a box so if you have made a drop pod or have pics of one please post them here i will appreciate any kind of advice.

perhaps, make a flower-like shape that opens out, using hinges. Look at plantery assault drop pods (WH40K Space Marine pod) design, you could use that spine effect.

Yea, I'd say Magic Soap has the gist. Drop pods are usually similar to two pyramids bottom to bottom. A thinner, taller pyramid on top and a short, squat pyramid on bottom.

And also remember, you don't have to make the doors hinge. The chances that a drop pod would ever be used more than once is kind of slim. Jump make them able to pop off and you won't have to worry about working around hinge pieces the entire time.

Dweeb ha!You are one to talk this "drop pod" has so many holes in it the enemy does not need bullets to kill the people inside.Seriously the constriction is crappy at best the engines or what ever the hell you want to call them are mounted with near no support and the doors hinges will fall off rather then bend open. Dweeb ba you are the one here that needs a new name not I maybe something like commander crap-o

Everything you've just described is how drop pods are supposed to be. What kind of drop pods were you thinking of? The reusable kind?

Thanks everyone for the help and taking the time to post pics im really grateful :D i have been thinking and i think i will be going in stranas direction in using lots of plates and hinges instead of basic bricks
which i think will give alot of room and still the drop poddy feel and yet again thanks to everyone who helped i really appreciated it! :D
